A-Flutter or A-Flame

What is love?
Is it a word
That sets your heart a-flutter
A word
That coaxes a smile onto your face
And a dreamy look in your eyes
Something that causes you
So much happiness
That you could burst into song
Or maybe just burst
From being so happy
Maybe love means something different
Maybe it's something
That sets your heart a-flame
And not in a good way
Maybe that word
Causes you so much pain
So much agony
That tears start to form
But you could never let them fall
After all,
Heartbreak was a distant memory
So why is it still affecting you
After all this time
Or it could be a source of fear
That seemingly insignificant word
Love
Maybe it's something you've wanted
Practically your whole life
You've searched and searched
Eventually though,
You gave up
Tried so hard to accept
That maybe love wasn't for you
You always tell yourself
'Who could ever love someone like you?'
You believed you were unlovable
Seemed like the only explanation
How could this one word
Mean so many different things
To so many different people
Nobody will ever have
The same definition
Of what that word means...
Love

Hi everyone. I'm finally back. Believe it or not, now that school is back I am a lot less stressed. I have written a lot of poetry over this seemingly endless summer. So there will be more updates soon. Thanks to everyone who takes time to read my shitty poetry.
