The air is humid as you sat at a park bench, staring at a couple not far from you, while sipping from your cup of coffee. You could faintly make out the golden glow of their wrists as they talked.
You sighed, as you traced the lines of the tattoo imprinted around your left wrist. The curving strokes a dark colour, not a single trace of the glow similar to the couples' and you're highly aware of why.
It is said that the tattoo on your wrist will serve as a sign when you finally met your soulmate. At first, you thought that the idea of soulmates was absurd, something that just comes from fairy tales, something that parents tell their children as some kind of entertainment. But as your friends, one by one, gushed about how they felt the tingling warmth at their wrists when they think that their soulmate is somewhere close by and when the tattoos on their wrists glowed a golden hue when their skin grazed against each other, a somewhat short but sends-tingles-down-your-spine type of spark of electricity, that's when you slowly let yourself believe that your soulmate is somewhere out there. That out of the seven billion people around the whole world, there's one single person that's meant just for you.
And you're guessing, you're guessing, if you saw him before, if you passed by him, but you were just too busy about something that you didn't realise the warmth around your wrist and that before you feel anything, he's gone and far away from you again. There could be hundreds of moments, carefully constructed by faith, that you might have missed and hundreds more that you haven't experienced, yet. So, you waited, but one only has a limited amount of patience and you were beginning to think if there really is someone out there, someone just for you. Hundreds of what if thoughts running through your mind.
What if he already found someone, could there be a person that aren't just meant to find their soulmate? What if he's involved in some accident and you can't meet him because he's lying in some hospital on his death bed? What if he already gave up on looking for you? What if, what if, what if.
You sometimes chastise yourself about always thinking about all this soulmate thing, reminding yourself that there's much more important things at hand in the moment, that the time meeting the one will come, eventually, you just have to wait. You just don't know for how long or if he's even going to show up.
The sound of your phone pulled you out from your thoughts, you also realised that your cup of coffee is now empty. Standing up from your sit, you walk over the bin and threw the cup away. The ringing of your phone is still going on and you sighed, contemplating if you should ignore it, but as you saw the face and name of your friend plastered on the screen you decided that answering her will be a good choice, because you know that she just won't stop ringing you.
"What?" You huffed.
Your friend chuckled. "Woah. What's got your knickers in a twist, Y/N?"
You rolled your eyes. "Nothing. Why did you call?"
