What is it like to live with your ex-boss?Every morning you have two choices, continue your sleep with dreams or Wake-up and chase your dreams. Decision is yours.
That’s what my grandpa used to say. Being a little gullible child I chose what I was told. For years I woke up thinking about chasing the ‘dream’. But what happens when the word ‘dream’ gets replaced by the word ‘nightmare’. That’s exactly what happened with me.
Obviously, I grew up, reached the maturity level required to take my own decisions, and I realized how reckless chasing ‘nightmare’ would sound.
Lying on your bed until unless nature’s call comes is a more favorable option.“Lianna, open the door.” It sounded like someone was going deranged outside. I was in the washroom for the performance of the final stage of my body’s life processes. But I guess I am forbidden from having peace even in toilet. Brandon was bawling and banging at the door. “I swear Lianna; I’ll kill you if you don’t come out right now.” I could hear some really threatening groans.
“Just a minute.” I wasn’t in mood to leave soon, neither was I finished. I was sitting on the toilet seat, looking at my hands. ‘God! My nails look like that of a coal mine worker. Thanks to that jerk, now I can’t even afford a manicure.’
“Lianna! Don’t test my patience.”Poor Brandon.
“Yes. Coming” Okay, I’ve got to admit I was getting really bored inside but I was really enjoying the part in which Brandon was whining like a poor baby. ‘I think I should go and see Rummy and Chubby. I haven’t seen them in a while. When was the last time I saw- .’
“Lianna!” again Brandon interrupted my trail of thoughts. “Okay! I AM SORRY! Do you hear it? I’m sorry. I will never touch your jar again; I’ll buy that bloody Miranda for you from my own pocket. I’ll do anything, please just come out!”
At that it didn’t take me second to open the door. “Really?!” I stood at the door beaming at him ear to ear.
“Get Lost.” He pushed me hurried inside, leaving me outside with the most devilish grin on my face. ‘Now I’ll show him who the real boss is.’My apartment was a small one. It had one bedroom and a living area and kitchen. The bedroom and living area had one wall of separation missing so there was no door to the bedroom, but a wide entrance with just curtains. Maybe that was supposed to be a design.
I was reading The Truth about Not Loving Miranda. My legs were in the sky when I got a call from mum. “Hello mommy! Say.”
“Hey honey! What are you doing right now? And how’s Brandon?” mom asked in a very chirpy sound.
“I am good, and what could possibly go wrong with him.” I put the phone between my ear and shoulder and turned to next page.
“What can I say, he’s living with you.” A broad voice interrupted our conversation.
“Is that my mean, rude, sarcastic dad?” a wide smile formed at my face. I closed my book and straight.
“Bingo. Tell me where my boy is. I hope you’re feeding him right” I looked around for him; shower was on in the bathroom.
“I guess he’s bathing. Why do you wanna talk to him anyway? Did he complain about my cooking skills?” I closed my book and kept it aside. God, I had made pasta a day before. Was it really that bad?
“Never mind, talk to your mother” was I that boring that my dad didn’t even want to talk to me?
“Lianna, your dad’s just fooling. We’ll be dropping Billy at your place, just make sure he doesn’t mess around. Your dad and I have to go to see your grandma. Is that fine with you and Brandon?”
“Mum, FYI this is my house, I don’t need to take his permission to get my brother. And can you guys please stop treating him like he’s my boyfriend.”
“Say whatever you want, but he is quite hot.” Mom tried to sound like a teenager but come on! She’s my mother. She’s like fifty or something.
“Mom! Please. Stop embarrassing me and yourself.” Mum started laughing. I just hope dad wasn’t anywhere around mum. I thought that was the right time to see rum and chub. “Mum, can you please send Rummy and Chubby too.”
“No. Brandon told me he’s allergic to cats. That’s not going to happen. Bye sweetie.” Mum declared and ended the call.
“But mum- no!”
I was already missing them. It had been three days since I last saw them. I felt miserable without them. I knew it was all because of Brandon. He was the reason behind the pain and agony we were experiencing. I was determined to give him a nice lesson. So, I was keeping notes of things I was gonna yell at him.
