A hard knock at the door made his eyes fly open, the instincts from the Clone Wars made all too responsive from the nervousness of the past few weeks. Looking over at his 5-year-old son, he sighed and reached out with the Force. A dark presence was waiting there for him.
Carnor Malkorn knew that it had only been a matter of time, but he wished he had more. Ever since his lover had died those few weeks ago, he'd known it was related to the Empire's search for the surviving Jedi since Order 66. 5 wonderful years, he'd had, but now they were over.
Carefully, he picked up his son, tucked the small cube of a holocron into his pocket as he went, and opened the backdoor. The child's eyes looked up at him as he looked down at him, and looking inside them, he could tell his son knew. Putting his son down outside, he shut and locked the back door as he heard the splintering of the front door and turned to face them.
The face that greeted him was cruel and hard, the garb of the Inquisitorious clinging to his imposing frame. He looked stoically into the eyes of the man, determined not to lose his composure, as the stormtroopers clamped stuncuffs tightly on his wrists. The inquisitor spat in his face, looking disappointed that he had missed a fight that may prove his worth to Lord Vader. Carnor Malkorn simply watched his face, probing for any good in the inquisitor that he could find. There was none.
The inquisitor, having had enough of the farce, snapped a palm against the Jedi's temple, knocking him out instantly with the Force-enhanced blow.
The 5-year-old boy watched, wide-eyed, from the nearby alleyway as they dragged the slumped form of his father away into an airspeeder that he watched until it was but a speck in the distance...
