"I don't understand, the politician came here to do some dirty business with another politician. Both are now dead. Although niether of them have a weapon on them, this means the shooter had to be from the outside. And just looking at the bullet wounds it was a sniper's gun." I said to my partner. We were called to investigate the crime that happened here merely 30 minutes ago.
I look out the window that now had three bullet holes it, but only one bullet hole in each man. But their was an extra blood stain in the carpet, that is unaccounted for.
Did one escape some how? As I looked out the window, on the roof of the building across from the one the crime scene occupied, there was a small black figure. I stood there seemingly observing us, I blink a couple times as I felt I was only seeing things. And when I opened my eyes again the shadow figure was gone.
"Who would want these people dead? And why? Did they hire someone do to it for them; either that or their a really good and pissed off marks men doing it for sport, but I seriously doubt that. "
"Maybe, they hired an assasin or mercenary, sir?"
"Yeah, and from, the angle which these shots must have been taken it must have been in one of the buildings near by."
"Hey, detective, should I make a report on what we found?" My assistant, Danny asked.
"Ummm, yeah, I gotta go, tell the photographers and police they can come back up and send the report to the Chiefs and George." I say turning away and leaving.
" Alright.Good night, Jorel!" His cheerful voice rang.
"Night, Danny..." I say before exiting and leaving the building.
~Y/N's Pov~
Damn, one of them managed to limp away and I think the Detective saw me... Oh well, if he catches on, I'll just kill him. I jumped down to the dumpster landing on top. I leave my gun in one of the burning barrels in the alley then changing into my dress and putting my clothes in the alley and setting it all on fire. I walk down the street while trting to put my heels on a the same time. I wasn't watching where I was going and I ran into a man walking to his car, knocking us both to the ground.
"Ugh, excuse me, I really should pay attention to where I'm going.." I say lifting myself iff of the man.
"Its quite alright, ma'am..."
I lift him to his feet and take a look at his face, my heart drooped when I realized I had just bumped into the detective who was solving the murder I just commited.
"Miss, are you alright?"
I recomposed myself and smiled.
"Yes, I'm sorry, I'm in a hurry to the Art gala down town." I say.
"Oh, well, I could give you a ride if you'd like?" He said jesturing toward his car.
"Ummm..."
"Please, its the least I could do..."
"Oh, alright, why not.." I say, and he smiles leading me to the passenger seat of the car and opening the door.
He gets in on the other side and startes the car driving us towards the Art Gallery.
"So, where you planning on walking all the way there?"
"No, I was gonna call a taxi, once I got a little closer towards town." He nods in understanding..
"So, um what's your name? I'm Jorel Decker..."
"Well, Mr . Decker, I'm (y/n) (l/n)"
He chuckled as I say his name in a sophisticated tone.
"A pleasure to meet you Miss (l/n). So, may I ask why you're headed to the Art Gala, all alone at that."
"Well, my friend Mia is putting her pieces on display tonight and I wanna be there to support her."
"Why are you going all alone, don't women usually have a date to this kind of thing?"
"Yes, but I am currently single and don't plan on having a date soon, as the kind of work I do keeps me busy and simply would never work with having to care for another person."
"What do you do for work?"
I turn to him, with a cocked eyebrow.
"You sure ask one too many questions, don't you Mr. Decker?"
"Hmm, oh, I'm so sorry, it's kinda what I do for a living.. I'm a detective. I'm asking myself questions, other people questions, criminals questions. I question everybody, it's what I'm used to. Sorry, I don't mean to seem invading or rude, just understand its what, I'm used to doing."
I nod in understanding.
"Of course." I agree.
We pull up to the Art Gala and I look to Jorel who was looking up at thr building.
"Thank you for the ride, Mr. Decker." I say, he looks down with a somewhat disappointed look, in his eye.
"Uhh, Yeah! No, uh, no problem.."
I look back up at the building, and sigh. Making a decision that will forever change my life only I didn't know that yet. I take a deep sigh and bend down so that he would see me.
"Hey, Jorel, you wouldn't mind being my company to the Gala would you?" He looked up in suprise and nodded.
"Yeah, it would be an honor. Lemme just give the car keys to the Valet here."
I nod, closing the door to his car.
I'm really shooting myself in the foot here, I just know it. Well, you know what they say, keep your friends close and your enemies closer. And that's exactly what I plan to do.
There's a buzz in my ourse and I grab my phone to check what it is.
9.5 thousand dollars added to your bank account by 'unknown'.
I smile to myself, another costmer happy, I love my job.
Taking those politicians out were possibly my easiest job yet. I mean, that one time I had to take out that Mexican drug lord, man... I really thought I was gonna die, his whole gang was on my ass for months and came so close several times to finally getting me.
Damn.
Jorel walks back towards me, and I smile.
"Hey, are you okay? From where I was standing it looked like you had spaces out or something."
"Uh, yeah I just realized I forgot to tell my brother, something." I say, oh yeah, my little brother and little sister are my partners in crime, Jance and Emily. Their awesome, they've covered my ass too many times.
"Ah, okay. Well... Shall we?" He says offering his arm.
"Yes." I smile looping my arm in his. We walk up the steps, hearing the soft classical music starting to fill my ears. The chatter of people dicussing their daily lives and the works of art on display. As we stepped through the door and into the gallery, Jorel let me take the lead.
I softly tug his arm towards where Mia said she would be.
"(Y/N)! You're finally here!" She said rushing up to me and giving a hug.
I gasp as I look up at her art, it was beautiful.. The big painting of roses resting over a grave with a stormy day as the background was my favorite.
"Mia, this painting is so beautiful.."
"Thank you, it took a while. A long while."
"How long did it take you?" Jorel asked.
"Five months, I'm sorry who are you, I don't believe we've met. I'm Mia, (Y/N)'s bestfriend."
"I'm Jorel Decker, (Y/N)'s date."
"Well, you better not hurt or-"
"I know,I know, or you'll pound my face in"
"Umm, no. I'll sit back with bucket of popcorn and watch her pound your face in, and cheer her on."
He laughed and nodded with a smile."of course."
"Hey, uh (Y/N) lemme talk to you for a second? Alone." Mia said turning to me.
"Yeah, sure, stay her a sec, Jorel?"
"Sure thing."
Mia pulls me behind some shelf holding other people's art, so Jorel wouldn't hear or see us.
"What the hell are you doing, dating a fucking detective? If he finds out what we do, we're both down for."
"I know. I just, we just met tonight. He gave me a ride here and I offered for him to come with me to the gala."
"All I'm saying is you better know what you're doing and be careful."
"I will..."
Hopefully I can keep this promise..
