We knew it was there, just didn't think anything of of it. The old abandoned graveyard was being invaded by two clumsy friends as they made their way threw the thick weeds and brambles. People had warned them that the site was dangerous and that many accidents happened in the past, but they didn't notice. After all curiosity killed the cat.
I sighed and heaved myself down on a crumbled headstone, giving no respect for the dead. I could smell a weird smell that had been lingering around the area for as long as me and Shannon climbed over the iron gate that kept the graveyard hidden away from existence. At first I thought it was just the weeds, but it was beginning to smell a lot worse than dead plants.
" Urgh that smell is getting worse" I complained, throwing Shannon a glare as she completely ignored me.
" I wonder were we are.. nothing seems familiar " Shannon mumbled, returning my glare with a worried gaze.
I sighed and stood up brushing bits of grit off my leggings. " Let's keep on going until the end then make our way back, I'm not missing out on this"
I blindly thrashed on with Shannon right behind me. She was right, nothing here was the same as were we had come in. Dread weighed me down like a stone in my belly. But not attempting to give of any signs of fear I continued. Once again forgetting the stone angel at the beginning of the trek.
" I think I see a building " called Shannon, who was standing on a rock above me.
" Really? " I questioned dumbfounded.
I stood up beside her and followed her stare, she was correct, in the distance surely enough there was a rickety looking building not too far away.
"Race you too there" I challenged, grinning.
" No I think we should be careful, this place could be full of ditches" Shannon warned.
I nodded, I guess she was right.
