A Wonderful Offer

Dear Diary,

                 Yume lost her job a couple days ago, sorry I didn't tell you sooner, I was sick. I wasn't THAT sick, but my voice got all scratchy and ever looking at what I wrote sounded sick. Now that I'm feeling better, I can tell you all about the past two days.

                Hime Nijino came over the same day got fired, not that I think there's anything suspicious about it, it's just poor timing. By the way, Hime is Yume and Aria's older sister. She came over and let me stay at the house she used to live in when she was my age, it's just one more door down from mine (or is it two doors?). Oh! But back to the first thing, while I was there Yume told me she lost her job. Mom said she's going to give Yume a raise for babysitting me, I forgot she gets paid for looking after me. I'm worried for her, but I'm sure Yume will find a new job, she's so good she must be hired for something!

"What about a fireman?" said Tetsuya as he and Saya walked around the park that Sunday afternoon. "Or a fire-girl. Yume could do it, it can't be that hard!"

"I don't think she wants to be a fire-woman," Saya replied. "And it's kind of scary too,"

"It's exciting!" 

"Besides, when was the last fire that ever happened in this town?" Saya asked

"Two years ago," said Tetsuya "There was a an accident with a burner in Aikatsu High School,"

"Oh yes," Saya nodded "But -"

"And when lightning struck that parking lot last April?"

"Well -"

"And the basement of an old lady's house also set on fire when her grandson was smoking on New Years -"

"Okay! I get it!" Saya cried as they passed the dog park "But see, it's dangerous! Yume can't get hurt while working!"

"Well -" Tetsuya started, but was interrupted by loud abrupt barking. The children gasped and turned to see family black and white dog. 

"Compass!" Saya exclaimed

"That can't be the same dog," said Tetsuya

"Well is that the same Subaru?" Saya asked, pointing to the saving man a few yards away. "Hi!"

"Hey!" said Subaru "Funny running into you two here,"

"Yeah," Tetsuya nodded "Hilarious, what are you doing here?"

"Letting these two stretch their legs," Subaru said, referring to Juice & Compass "What are you two doing here?"

"Walking," Saya replied "We do that sometimes!"

"After this we're going to Henry's house!" chimed Tetsuya "We're going to play in The Wonder,"

"Sounds like fun," Subaru said with a smile "I'll let you be on your way,"

"Okay," Saya and Tetsuya started to go

"Oh wait! I almost forgot!" said Subaru. Saya and Tetsuya turned around "You two are going on Spring Break next week, right?"

"Yeah," Tetsuya nodded "I'm going to a Day Camp, my parents are making me go,"

"I see," Subaru nodded "What about you, Little Lady, are you doing anything?"

"Um, not really," Saya replied

Subaru smiled "How would you like to travel with me for the week?" he asked "I'm heading over to Ocean Grove,"

"Where and what is that?" Saya asked

"It's a small town by the most beautiful beach you ever saw, it's very scenic," Subaru told her "It's kind of far from here, but I was planning on taking Yume there since I thought she could use a break,"

"You mean because she lost her job?" Saya asked

Subaru nodded "I think she'll be a little more persuaded if you come, and, I'm 101% sure you will have fun!"

Saya smiled. It did sound like fun. "I'll think about it!"

Saya thought about it for a short amount of time before deciding that traveling to a beach with her favorite person in the world and with one of her favorite musicians in the world would be the most greatest treat or present or surprise or anything she could ever receive!

When Saya and Tetsuya went their separate ways for the day, Saya took off for home where Yume and her mother were having a chat.

"I don't need a raise, Kaoru," Yume told Saya's mother "It's sweet of you, but I'll be fine,"

"I'm just worried, Yume," Kaoru replied "I know you can support yourself, but I just want to -" she stopped "Oh hello, Saya,"

"Hi!" Saya waved "Hey Mom, for Spring Break, can I go to Ocean Grove?"

"Ocean Grove?" Kaoru blinked

"Oh dear, did he ask you too?" Yume asked

"If you mean Subaru then yes!" Saya said with a smile

Yume shook her head and smiled. "What's this about Ocean Grove?" Kaoru asked

"Subaru asked me to go on this little Road Trip with him next week," Yume explained "I told him I'd think about it,"

"Hey, that's what I told him!" said Saya

"Are you going?" Kaoru asked

"Well if Saya is going then I have to go," Yume replied

"Yay!" Saya squealed

"That's great Yume," said Kaoru "But I'm sure Subaru didn't invite Saya just so he could -"

"Yes he did!" Saya cried. Yume groaned and rolled her eyes "This means he likes you,"

"I already know that," Yume said in the same tone Saya would use if her mother repeatedly told her how much she loved her.

Saya didn't really think Subaru loved Yume like that, it would be extremely strange if they had any sort of parental relationship. Saya knew there were different types of love, Ako had taught her the different names for all of them: agape, unconditional love; philia, friendship of friends or brothers; storge, the love of family; and finally eros, the romantic type of love. Saya only thought about these now cause she wondered what Subaru would fall under.

She wanted to say eros, but she still wasn't so sure. Saya's mother had told her that their romantic relationship was never really confirmed, so it sounded more like philia. Maybe this trip would give her a good idea. Only time would tell.
