LICHENSTON two days ago...

King Magnar proclaimed himself as Emperor of the Lands. Before he was able to solidify his position as Emperor, the Ring of the Chosen disappeared. The Ring of the Chosen is the proof required to show the people his place as the ruler of Lichenston. Despite this, Magnar disregarded the missing ring.

“Bah. I don't need the ring to show I am now the ruler of Lichenston. My might and power will show them,” he told his officials.

They all agreed to him. There's nothing they could do, especially an Esper is watching by.

“From this day forward, I shall continue what my great grandfather has started: to put every nation under the Carnificina's rule, even if it means war. And one more thing,” Magnar called to his reigning officials, “Find Crown Princess Elizaria Emersyn Silverwind. I want her dead or alive. I need to make sure no one, NO ONE's going to take this kingdom away from me.”

Everyone hassled out to spread the order of the Emperor, leaving Magnar in the throne room along with the Esper Rage.

“You,” Magnar pointed at the Esper. “I want you to hunt down the Crown Princess.”

The silent Esper nodded and disappeared through the shadows of the halls of the throne room. Then his beautiful wife Carmina Lestia Grim-Mortem came in.

“Magnar,” she called out.

Emperor Magnar went to her, hugged her. After hugging his wife, he pulled away and caressed her cheek. “Finally, Lichenston is ours, my love. Don't worry. Once I get rid of Garrett's daughter Elizaria, the throne is solidly ours to keep.”
Lestia smiled sweetly to Magnar.

“I know you can do it, Magnar. This is what you always wanted. What your great grandfather wanted. Once the Lichenston heiress is gone, we will finally be able to conquer all the lands. We'll be unstoppable and the might of this family will be carved on the minds of every living thing in this world.”

“I thank you for supporting me, my love. I will see to it that your wishes will be fulfilled, Lestia,” he replied to her, smiling.

At the present...

Elizaria, Reinald, Denzell, Ruth, Malin and the four soldiers are travelling within the woods of Narfolk.  The four soldiers of Stratenwit surround Elizaria's group, protecting them from any threats.

“Is the place you mentioned safe for us, soldiers?” Reinald asked. Ruth walked alongside Denzell and Elizaria. Malin stayed at the back.

“Sharnwick is a good place for us to settle for the night. It is located at the middle of Narfolk forest. Those who are not familiar with the Narfolk forest will get lost without a guide,” a Stratenwit soldier told Elizaria and her companions. Then he immediately removed his mask, revealing his face. A faint scar runs vertically through his forehead, which anyone could easily mistake as a worry line. His curly brown hair covered the right side of his foreheard

“My name is Bertrand and it's a pleasure to assist the Crown Princess of Lichenston and her allies,” Bertrand said, stopping in his tracks. Then he bowed to Elizaria. His fellow soldiers did the same.

“Thank you for saving us back there. If you have not alarmed us regarding the infiltration of your kingdom, we would have fell right into their trap,” Reinald thanked him on behalf of Elizaria, who stood there, silent.

“You have my thanks as well, fellow soldiers, for protecting our heiress,” Malin Parma said as he stood by Elizaria.

“You can thank us later if we're able to get her across the borders of Stratenwit to Prussengard. As long as she's within the boundaries of Stratenwit, the Princess is not safe,” Bertrand replied.

“Then we shall see to it she crosses the borders,” Reinald told Bertrand. “For now, just like you said, we should settle at Sharnwick for the night and at the break of dawn, we'll continue the journey to Prussengard.”

“Understood.” Bertrand continued his pace and everyone followed him. They trekked the woods for more than three hours. After a few detours due to roaming Carnificina soldiers in search for the Crown Princess, they finally reached Sharnwick. Sharnwick is a small village surrounded by large Narfolk trees. Narfolk people have their houses built on the large branches of Narfolk trees. All the houses look the same, but no one seemed to be confused which one is their house. Elizaria stared in admiration.

“Admiring the whole place, Your Highness?” Bertrand approached her as the others headed towards the Main House of Sharnwick to rent a house for all of them to settle in for the night.

“Yes. This place is amazing, Bertrand. I've never seen anything like this before,” Elizaria turned to him, a small smile formed on her face.

The Stratenwit soldier thanked the gods he's able to get her attention. Princess Elizaria has been silent all the way from Stratenwit when she knew her father was dead.

“You know, Princess, the houses are made of ancient Narfolk wood gathered after the Primordial War. Yes, they're a thousand years old, but don't let its looks fool you. The wood is as hard as boulders. It glows in the shade of red wood when shone upon by the sunlight and it camouflaged with the leaves in night.”

It's no wonder why Bertrand and his comrades chose this place. The people's houses are not built on land, but are built on the humongous branches of Narfolk trees. When attacked, these houses could not be easily demolished, Elizaria thought to herself.

Then, they saw Reinald and Denzell walked towards them.

“Everyone's settled. We should have our early dinner for tonight, Your Highness, if we are to leave at the break of dawn,” Reinald told Elizaria.

Elizaria nodded.

“Elizaria, let's tour around, starting with the Main House. That big, big house over there.” Denzell pulled Elizaria's arm as he and the princess dashed towards the Main House. When they're out of sight, Bertrand turned towards Reinald.

“The princess sure is affected by the death of her father,” Bertrand told Reinald.

“Princess Elizaria and the High King are very close. High King Garrett is not only a wise ruler, but also a caring and loving father to her. He knows how to balance his time as both High King and a father to Elizaria,” Reinald told him. “Don't worry. The princess is a strong person. A tough one, I tell you.”

Bertrand looked at Denzell and Elizaria's direction. “Not only did she lose a father, but also the responsibility of looking after all of us rests upon her now. She must defeat Magnar to regain her kingdom and take back ours too,” then he faced Reinald, “Me and my fellow soldiers shall see to it she arrives in Prussengard safe and sound. That's a promise.”

Reinald smiled.

“Thank you, my friend.”
