For months, Maddie, Chloe and the three Hyland siblings had been preparing to say goodbye to Pittsburgh and hello to California. After an early start and a rushed breakfast, Chloe and Maddie left their homes and headed to the Hyland's crib. With MacKenzie working on her new album, Clara was beginning to feel left out. She knew she couldn't travel with the gang to the other side of America but a bit of pleading wouldn't do any harm. Bags loaded and gear in check, Kelly and Randy wished all the teens a safe journey and a happy holiday. Josh was in the driving seat sat next to Brooke with Chloe, Paige and Maddie sat snug in the back. A break from the dance world was what they all needed; even Maddie was longing for two weeks away from Abby and her strenuous dance classes. As they pulled away down the long gravel drive, all five teens waved goodbye to their parents and were set for an adventure that would be life changing.
They hit the road, music blaring and windows down. There was conflicts over the music that was playing; some wanted pop others classics. In the end, everyone decided on Brooke's old album. There's nothing better then listening to songs that bring back memories. As the introduction for 'Summer Love Song' began to play, you could feel the buzz of excitement in the air. " Who remembers when we were dancing on the open top bus" said Paige.
"I can't believe that was 7 years ago now. It seems like it was yesterday!" said Chloe who was letting her hair blow out of the window.
"I know. It was a shame that Miss Abby had to boss everyone around and tell us what to do. I know my mum certainly wasn't happy about that one but the video turned into a viral sensation" Brooke said with a tone of happiness in her voice.
"I even remember when Brooke was singing it in the shower and the whole family was sat on the landing listening to her. You were proper going for it weren't you." Josh said.
"I'm not going to deny it. Everyone loves to sing in the shower." Brooke replied in a rather confident tone.
As the journey went on, the girls started to nod off one by one. First Maddie, then Brooke, Paige and finally Chloe. Josh had some peace and quiet as he continued to drive his sisters (all of them were considered family) to the Pittsburgh international Airport.
He pulled up outside, unloaded the bags and woke up the girls. The familiar sight of the airports brought back the memories for the girls after repeatedly travelling with the ALDC to various competitions all over America. The check in was smooth, boarding was simple and the flight was ready to take off. The gang waved bye bye to their homeland and were preparing for their first ever trip alone to sunny California.
