The lust Pink and orange skies; The tall grass fields swaying as the air filled with warmth and delight. The enchantment of two young tenuko wolves. Giggling and smiling chasing each other and play fighting. They were both just bundles of joy and energy. Their bond to each other was strong. Nothing could break them apart. But now that was just a memory...
Darkness. Sitting motionless; He sat awaiting for puffins arrival. The moonlights dull radiant lit up the entrance of the bitter cave. His dull grey fur flowed stiffly through the chilling wind. His dark grey and green horns captured the glow of the rising moon. He waited.A noise of flapping wings grew louder as a dark grey, white bellied wolf flew closer and landed. She had fresh scarlet blood dripping down her legs and down her face. The blood coated over her orange horns and white muzzle as she panted. Echo stood up and faced the bloody wolf. She had a dull cracked orange and black mask on the back of her bristled neck. Echos expressionless face turned to anger and his blind eyes lit up with fury.
"I TRUSTED YOU PUFFIN!!" He snapped. Anger stuck through his eyes like lightning.
"I told you to leave the mask alone! And you PROMISED me you wouldn't touch it!".
"Echo.. I'm sorry" puffins eyes filled with guilt and sorrow. She couldn't help herself.
"NO! you're not sorry though, if you were sorry you wouldn't of done it in the first place" He took a step closer. His fur bristled up; His wings were wide open; his eyes filled with tears.
"Why did you use it!?" Echo lifted his head. He demanded an answer.
"I... I don't-"
"Your were killing wolves and running. Weren't you?" Echo cut of puffin with a snarl.
"Pathetic.."
His claws dug deep into the hard stone floor. He started to walk away without saying one more word.
"E..Echo I'm sor-" Echo shot a deathly look at Puffin.
"how many Puffin? HOW MANY DID YOU MURDER?" Puffin fell silent.
Her mask lay next to her, she was too angry to think, too angry to speak. She grabbed Echo and pinned him down, grabbing the mask and running off. She placed it on her face and looked at Echo, smashing her back legs into the ground the cave entrance crumbled blocking Echo's exit. She flew off into the night.Echo sat there. Silence was the loudest noise in the cave. Darkness was the only light. A shiver ran down echos spine as he heard a whisper.
"You're alone. She doesn't care" the whispers chanted over and over again.
The more he tried to escape them the louder they got. Suddenly he paused and collapsed to the stone cold floor. He was isolated.Puffin gently landed on a cliff edge not too far from the bright glowing city of Tokyo. She took the cracked mask off of her face and laid it down beside her. Her head lightly touched the damp grass as she laid down.
She glanced over at the city, she could just faintly hear loud music and car horns.
Guilt struck through her as the pain in her heart worsened. She had just lost her only friend and it was all her fault. Puffin gazed at the mask and threw it down the cliff edge. The satisfaction of watching the mask fall made her feel bad. Echo must of felt wounded by what she did. She broke his promise then abandoned him just like his unforgivable father did.She watched it fell and Puffin started hearing the voices of the mask "save...save...SAVE!" Puffin dived down and grabbed the mask and flew back up. It was cold but her soul was linked to it. She knew she couldn't lose it or destroy it, although it was her fault she was addicted to this mask. She placed it on the back of her bristled neck. She laid back down on the damp grass; her eyes slowly drifted off to sleep.
