Chapter 5: Hail Mary

The cranking of the service elevator within the HQ geared upwards as the lift rushed to our level, the lot of us planning a strategy for countering the small Titans inside the depot while others were getting sighs of relief or sorrow at the fact that, with the help of the Savior Titan, we had made it to the Trost Headquarters while only sustaining 2 casualties.

Speaking of which, the only one who wasn't within the walls of the HQ was Krista, who was outside with the large humanoid. That was where my eyes remained while everyone was getting everything ready down on the lower levels. Krista hung by the nail of the Titan's middle finger, giggling and laughing as she bounced up and down while suspended. She yipped when her uniform ripped and she flopped onto the ground, butt first. She gave the Titan a little protest, then gagged as it leaned down, licking her with the tip of its tongue, sniffing her afterwards. I could hear that of a soft moan as it craned its head away, eyes locked onto her as she flicked the saliva off in disgust. She took a few steps back, jumping when the Titan only took one to be on top of her again, tilting its head as if it were curious of her movements. She shook her head as she petted the Titan's chin, the beast showing a supremely surprising amount of intelligence and docility towards her, almost like a loyal dog.

She motioned it to follow her, confirming that notion when it obeyed, rounding about the HQ and dropping its hand to the ground. It lifted her up to the window I stood at, the blonde 'goddess' opening it and slipping through, half of her uniform slimy and another portion torn. The Titan lowered its hand, replacing its position with its head. It sniffed the window, eyes turning to me as it, perhaps, recognized my scent. The dilated pupils expanded slightly before shrinking back to their normal, humanly size, the tongue of the Titan slipping it and smacking me across the cheek.

"Uuuugh..."
I wiped off the tongue fluids as the Titan bent back from the window, turning and walking off towards the northern end of the HQ, leaving my sight temporarily as it rounded about to search for more bodies to feed on.

"They can't take over the building."

I turned to look at Eren as he approached, the boy looking out at the Titan as it jumped over a nearby building to get its jaws onto another 15 meter's nape. He watched it drain and drop it before moving on.

"Not while he's out there hunting for 'em."

I nodded in agreement, then followed him and Krista down to the lower levels, where everyone else was at.

"How much do you know about that Titan?"
I glanced at Reiner as he asked Connie this question, Annie sitting by them.

"Eh? Shouldn't we discuss that after we're safe?"
Reiner grinned.

"True that. Let's get out of here alive first."

"We found some!"

Everyone turned to Jean and a few other cadets as they came in with crates loaded in their arms.

"They're Military Police supplies, though they are covered in dust."

They put them down and began opening them, drawing out firearms and rifles with dusty shell ammunition.

"Will three bullets be enough? Do these guns even work against the Titans in the first place?"
Armin walked over, setting out a map of the depot below.
"It's better than nothing. Even if there are still seven 3-4 meter class Titans in the supply room, blinding them all at once isn't impossible with this much firepower."

He pointed at the map.

"First, we'll use the lift to lower a large number of people into the chamber. Next, they'll fire directly into the faces of all seven Titans at once. We'll blind them. The next instance will decide everything."
