Beep- Beep- Beep-

Ugh, morning already?

Except something wasn't right. I heard crying beside me. I fluttered open my eyes and tilted my head to see Soyoung's hair. Her face was facing down and her shoulders were shivering, with the occasional hiccup.

"Soyoung, why-"

Soyoung lifted her head immediately with wide-eyes. She leaped to give me a tight hug. I was confused, but embraced it regardless.

"Thank goodness, thank goodness," Soyoung muttered shakily between sobs.

I cradled her and stroked her back, still wondering why she's in my room. I glanced up and saw a white ceiling.

Wait- my ceiling isn't white.

I turn to my left, a curtain. I turn to my right, a curtain and heart rate monitor.

Hospital?

"Soyoung, why am I in a hospital?"

She pulled away, plenty of tears welled up in her eyes.

"Seems that- you don't remem- ber," she hiccuped, wiping a few tears rolling down her cheek.

"Do- you remember- you get- ting ready- y for work today?" she asked. Her eyes were swollen from crying. She held my hand and stared at me sadly.

I nodded, unsure if the day I remembered was today or a few days ago.

"I know- you try so har- d to do well at your- r job, but you should may- be be careful," Soyoung took a pause to swallow back a hiccup, "Because you trip- ped and fell dow- n our flight of- stairs. You- know how tall our- r apartmen- t's stairs are."

Tears bubbled up in Soyoung's eyes so much that she started bawling.

"I just don't want to lose another sibling!" she cried.

I brought her close to me to comfort her. Her breathing became irregular and the tears soaked onto the hospital blankets.

A few minutes later, she lifted her head and brought herself together to continue.

"So I heard a loud noise outside, and me being me, I went to see what it was. And I saw you at the bottom of the flight of stairs. You weren't moving at all. That of course made me panic. It really took me awhile to get to my senses and rush you to the hospital. When I got there, the doctors said that you were fine but just unconscious currently because you hit your head and that you may have amnesia from injuries. I didn't believe them at all, I thought of the worst. I thought you were going to die. But here we are, you very much alive with minor amnesia, and me ugly crying."

I stared intently at her.

"Nice to know," I whispered, "Hey, don't worry about me dying. I have to be with you, and you have to be with me," I smiled, hoping to cheer up my sister.

Soyoung smiled sadly.

I rested eyes while my sister is beside me holding onto my hand. She's no longer crying so severely anymore. A long time passed where no human sounds were in the room. Just the light whistle of the wind from the partially open window. I really enjoyed that silence.

"You want me to get some food? You're probably hungry." Soyoung abruptly stood up and wiped away a few remaining tear droplets.

"Not really, honestly. Kind of feeling nauseous and lost my appetite. Maybe some water will do," I tell her.

She nodded and headed out the door. I smile to myself and close my eyes once again.
