Rose laid there staring at her two pups with clouded eyes, A whimper escaped her throat one was a black and white as his dad another anonymously blue grey. "Well rose?" The healer wolf lowered her voice to a whimper "whats their names?" The healer bit her tongue trying not to escape the words "who's the father" she knew it would bother the mother. A voice finally cracked making the healer wince "clear water and.. Dark shadow" the mothers head turned around not looking at her pups. "Rose whats the matter?" Bracken the brown wolf said in a lowered voice.
"I... Can't" rose wailed tears already damping her white and pink fur. "Wh-h-h-hat do you mean that can't survive without you the secret of you will haunt them forever." The voice replied with a crack of damped sadness.
She replied again "They remind me to much.. Of him." Her head turned away with shame "i can't" she repeated.
The healer tilted her head then whimpered.
Rose nodded "I can't stay, I will not watch my pups grow.. I cant" she whimpered. The healers paws shuffled "wait rose! Don't go please!" Her stare bored at her, sad eyes looked up. "Look bracken, I just can't do it.. It will scar me worse then hy battles i ever interfered." The wolfs' head looked away not baring to stare at the healers dark blue Pooled eyes.
Bracken shakes her head in disbelief "leave.. Don't those.. Virus wolves will murder you.. No doubt.. I-"
The mothers voice came as a low crackle "dead will be better, dead means they won't know dead means.. With him."
Her blue eyes stared, she blinked and she growled in sudden anger "DEAD MEANS YOU WILL LEAVE THEM YOU KNOW HOW HARD THAT IS!?" Then she dipped her head noticing she woke a sickened elder "sorry.. Thorn leaf.."
Elder only shaking his head in a slight rage. Rose cowered " I'm sorry bracken, friend.."
Bracken stared obviously still mad, "your choice.." The white wolfs' eyes stared at her pups eyes clouded with sadness.
"I'm sorry i can't my young ones.. But i promise to always,always,always! Stay alive for you, but the horror of your dad i will not look at, although.. I will always love you." Then she stood up and licked brackens shoulder "I'm sorry dearest friend take care of them.. The will rain importance one day."
Rose stared over her shoulder "my pups i love you." Then she stalked away leaving a mothers love in the den, leaving it behind.. All of it.
"I will." Bracken murmured licking the pups in a tight smooth lick. The feel of the hearts warmed her up, a smile rose as she sat next to them, but the horror of there mother in the air "why leave so easily, why who was their father to haunt such a brave wolf away from her children?"
