I stood at the door in the heavy rain, waiting for the dealer to open up. I stared at my watch and glanced around the street, but it was filled with heavy fog that I could only see five feet. I heard footsteps from the inside and I prepared myself with my hand on my gun in my trench coat.
"Ah, you're here. Come on in, sir, I have the package waiting for ye." The dealer looked like an old man, grey raggedy hair and a long beard, short and chubby. "Have ye the canisters?" I quickly checked my coat and took out a couple of canisters of robotic fluid. These canisters are like the black market currency, people will do anything for them. "Shiny..." He stared at the canister and broke his attention to the box. "Here it is."
"Now, come here. Open the box and take them out." I pointed my handgun at the old man and watched as he pulled out the contents. I glanced around to see if there are any recording devices, and luckily there were none. It's just an old shack filled with junk and garbage.
I looked out the window and in the heavy fog, I noticed a glint in a window across the street. As soon as I realized what it was, I threw a smoke bomb and shoved the dealer onto the ground and held my hand on his mouth. "Quiet," I whispered to him and looked around intensely for anything suspicious.
I watched the glint in the fog and waited for something to happen. Then I noticed the glint disappearing and I hope it's safe now. I slowly took my hand away from his mouth and I whispered, "Ok, quietly. Take the box in a room with no windows. Check for any recording devices." I ordered him and stood up with my handgun ready. He quietly panicked and moved the boxes, and I was backing up to the staircase, looking out the window. As soon as I hit the railings, I quickly scurried upstairs and shut the door. I took out my light canister and it glowed the room.
"What happened, sir? Why did you push me?" He started to be a bit mad about me pushing him, but I explained to him what happened.
"There was a glint in a building across the street, it couldn't be anything other than a sniper rifle," I explained softly and he started to understand. I put my handgun away and walked towards the man with the canister he requested. But instead of giving him the canister, I quickly reached for his neck and stabbed his stomach, twisted the knife, and then pulled out my syringe and injected it. It's supposed to erase all of the memories, visions, and even the basic stuff so that he can't be searched. I took the contents out of the box and opened a small green portal. It's like a portable storage device. I hacked it so it can hold more storage and not be hacked by anyone else. I looked down and then walked down the stairs, pretending as if nothing happened. I walked outside the door and noticed the red light again in a different building. I walked down the street, hunched and silently. I looked back in the fog and the light turned off and another on.
I continued walking until a figure appeared at the end of the street with a lamp post lighting the spot. I stopped in my tracks and reached for my handgun. I walked slowly away from the figure and looked around until I noticed another figure at the other end. Inside I started panicking. They both started coming closer, and closer, and closer, until they are only a few feet from me. I pulled out the handgun and shot one of them, but I didn't have any more bullets left. He dropped dead on the ground. I stared at the other one and saw more glints blinking in the fog. In a flash, the man went through me. I held my chest and then I noticed a big hole in my stomach. A big, gaping hole. I dropped on my knees and stared at the figure as its eyes start to glow blue and his grin widening. Then I took my last breath and died on the 'Street of Lies'.
Months later, a scientist discovered the truth behind Dominic's secrecy and then the world came to find out. Security upgraded in every city, recording devices became more prominent and hidden, and more agents went undercover for any other like Dominic. Polar Street, also known as the 'Street of Lies' has always been a haven for them to catch the rogue criminals.
