it was an afternoon full of yellow bliss with a whisper of violet. the cold winds approaching southeast made it feel like it was already a gloomy saturday evening. the students joyfully walking along the road made the environment less weary.
along with those students is kim hana crossing the pavements calmly, inhaling the fresh breeze of that afternoon. because of the wind going against her direction, she can't help but tuck her shoulder-length hair strands back to her ears. she released a tired sigh, scolding herself for not bringing a hair clip.
her thoughts and calmness were extremely disturbed when someone hit her head. it was his schoolmate, jungkook. she hissed in extreme annoyance and glared at the taller boy, but jungkook took nothing of it and only replied with a naughty grin.
"hi, hana." he waved, without removing that annoying smile. hana gently rubbed the part of her head that was hit by the boy. she didn't acknowledge jungkook's presence and kept walking.
"yah, you're very grumpy nowadays. when i thought you could never be more silent than you usually are." he pouted, lowering his head to hana's height.
"what do you want?" hana said, turning her head slightly on the latter.
"nothing. just want to check up on you." jungkook shortly replied. hana didn't reply afterwards.
silence enveloped the going-home walk, and jungkook kept on fidgeting because of it. walking with a reserved girl is not something he'll sign up for, so he wants to annoy his small neighbor for a change.
"how's your song? my classmates are waiting for it." jungkook baffled out of nowhere. hana released a small but blank laugh. "wow, my career has reached a section at science and technology strand."
"what can you do? you're famous after all." jungkook replied. she just shook her head at disbelief, not buying any of jungkook's lies.
"stop messing around with me and go your own way home, kook."
"well, we have the same way, though."
"oh." hana replied. "i forgot."
"wow, i'm hurt. is my existence that insignificant to you?" he joked at the blank-faced girl.
"well, you don't usually walk home with me, so i forgot." she defended.
"no, you're just famous to remember me." he pouted.
"non-sequitur." she remarked. jungkook hit her head again, earning a gasp from the small one.
"here you are again, muttering non-comprehensible words."
"wow, it's not my fault you keep accompanying fallacies with your words. stop hitting me."
he sensed hana's getting more pissed, so jungkook laughed and decided to give the girl a break. "anyways, you didn't answer me. how's your career going? are you happy?"
"i like what i'm doing, so i guess i'm good." hana held her music book tighter. yes, it feels good to have a passion. she thought to herself. "how about you, jungkook?" she asked.
"uh... well... i guess i'm good. i can earn a lot of money with my field, after all." jungkook scratched his head, clearly unsure of his answer.
"i thought you'll pursue the same with me. you're good with this as well, as far as i know." she muttered.
"you know my parents very well," jungkook quickly replied. "they don't even know i sing for a passion." he added. suddenly, memories of his brother getting hit for that reason flashed on his mind. he bit his lip slightly.
