"Hey John." Charlie sat down hesitantly. "Uh.. hi Charlie." John snapped out of his daze and Charlie smirked. "I'm sorry did I interrupt your daydreaming?" She said. She sounded too sweet, almost sinister. "Can I get your order?" The waiter walked up to the table holding a mini book and pen. Charlie ordered, John not hearing what she said. I don't know if I can trust her. What if she is someone else? "John," Charlie tapped on the table. "Oh. I'm not hungry. Can I just get a water?" The waiter walked away. "John." John heard the voice ring in his ears. He looked up to see Charlie fading in and out of existence. John stood up, and Charlie's eyes followed. John left the diner as quickly as he could.
Charlie sat down at the booth. John looked troublesome, almost as if he saw something in her she couldn't. The waiter came by. Charlie ordered, but she could tell John wasn't paying attention. "John." He flinched as he looked at the waiter, "Oh. I'm not hungry. Can I just get a water?" Something's definitely wrong. Charlie felt dizzy for a moment, and John was looking at her as if she were insane. John ran out of the restaurant, Charlie shortly running after him.
John had gotten into his car, ready to step on it when Charlie ran up to the window. He didn't open it. She yelled through the glass, "Are you okay?" Charlie poked the window worryingly. But John wasn't paying attention to her. Just across the street. Where the old theater used to be. Circus baby's Pizzeria was surrounded by.. police cars and an ambulance. "What the hell." John muttered under his breath. "I'm sorry Charlie I got to go." He sped away before she could get another word in.
John stepped out of his car to see the jaw dropping sight. Kids were everywhere. Some with their parents, others with police officers. Most were crying, but some were laughing and making jokes. What could have happened? "Sir, I need you to step back." An officer put his hand up as John walked closer. John needed an excuse. "I'm here in regards of Carlton Burke, the Chief of polices' son? He wants intel and I'm here for it. What happened?" He put his hand down slowly, "One of the robots malfunctioned, word says it was the big red and white clown. The one on the sign right there." He pointed to the main sign with Circus Baby on it. "It killed a little girl. Swallowed her whole. Supposedly it was the owners daughter. That's all we know." John had to act the part, so he said, "thank you. I'll get this to Carlton as soon as possible. Thank you for your time and goodnight officer."
John ran into his apartment, locking the door behind him. He ran into his bedroom into his duffel bag in the corner, yanking Theodore's head out of it. "WHERE' MY CHARLIE!" He realized as he set the head down that he had just screamed at an inanimate object. John chuckled, "how crazy must I be?"
