As I went to work this morning, I had an unusual assignment, I was going to be dispatched to Dallas, Tx for the day as they were short on emt's. I gathered my tactical gear and me and my partner geared up for the 6 hour drive from San Antonio. After a grueling 6 hour drive, we arrived at Baylor medical university. We were base stationed there. Our first call was for a 51 y/o M complaining of chest pain, we immediately get in our ambulance turn on the lights and sirens and rush to the remote area the call was made from. We entered a private suburb, almost away from other neighborhoods. We arrive at the house in 6 minutes, rush in with our gear as 3 women are panicking as the male is clinching his chest, my partner gets his vitals, good to go, I administer a nitroglycerin, wait 5 minutes and have my partner reassess his vitals. His pain subsided a little so we loaded him up and put him in the back of the ambulance where his daughter, a familiar face jumped in and said im riding with my dad. In a instant I knew who that beautiful, freckle faced girl was, demi lovato. It took us exactly 7 minutes to get her father back to the hospital in which we unloaded him, transported him to the hospital bed and handed him over to the E.R team. As we left, I felt a soft hand grab my arm and said "please wait", and to my surprise when I turned around it was that beautiful freckle faced girl with glare in her eyes from crying. I said "yes ms. Lovato" she said "I can't thank you enough for what you did to help my dad, and for what you do everyday" I insisted there was no need to thank me as it is my job. Demi looked down in relief and asked if she could give a hug to the girl who saved her dad. I nodded. A few seconds later, her mother and sister were rushing in breaking our hug apart, as she rushed to their side my partner and I wished them well and left the room. A few hours passed, we got called to several more emergencies, and the last one of the day, we were off the clock, so we chatted with the RN's, when I heard demis voice say "is that emt still here, ya know the one with the thick country accent?" My heart skipped a beat, I knew she was looking for me, a nurse pointed her in my direction. As she came around the corner I stood up and said "how may I help you ms. Lovato, i's your dad ok?" She replied "yes, but that's not why I was looking for you" I stood in silence. She slid me a piece of paper, and " said please read this" my palms were sweaty, and all I managed to mumble out was "yes ma'am". It was time for us to head back to San Antonio so we geared up and headed home, the whole ride I held that paper in my hand. When I finally got home, showered and sat down to relax, I opened the note which read " I find you very intriguing, here's my number, call me anytime xoxo demi" my jaw dropped. The next 3 days were my days off the first day I contemplated calling demi. So, I went outside to tend to my animals, I live in a 7 acre ranch, with 3 horses, dixie, rebel and traveler. 2 pigs eleanor and Stratford. (The ranch was passed down to me from my great great great grandfather who left in his will his first granddaughter will inherit the ranch and his wealth, and well that was me. ) as I brushed dixie I saddled her up and we went for a ride. About 3 hours later after tending to my animals, I came inside, popped in some chewing tobacco, and a lone star, and noticed demis note on the counter. I thought to myself "I should call and see how her dad is, I don't want her to think I was a bad person for not calling" so I dialed her number and by the 3rd ring I hear the sweetest voice say "hello". Urg, ummm, hi, demi, it's amber. " omg I didn't think you would call" "well ma'am I suspected you gave me your number for a reason" "yes, I'd like to invite you for coffee tomorrow if your not busy" "sounds good ms. Lovato, but I live in San Antonio, I was in Dallas for the day" "how's your dad by the way?" "He's doing great, he got released last night" "great to hear" demi- "so you live in San Antonio huh?" "Yes ma'" "please call me demi" "yes demi" "not a problem, i'll catch a flight first thing in the morning, text me your address, see you soon" before I could say anything she hung up. I stood there staring at my phone in such disbelief that it seemed like hours passed. "Holy fuck" demi fucking lovato is coming to my ranch tomorrow. I drank another 2 beers and drifted to sleep almost making myself believe this was all a dream.
