After I came home, I had a fight with Chikage, again. So I ran away.
I am by my lonesome by the swing set. Just relaxing on the swing set. It was until I met Kimigiku, who happens to walk by.
"Fancy meeting you here," Kimigiku said.
"Kimigiku."
Kimigiku was kind enough to let me tag along on her grocery shopping.
"Can you believe him?" I said after I have explained why I was alone at the swing set.
Kimigiku chuckled. "So you decide to run away from home again?"
"Yeah. He probably thinks I will eventually return, but there is no way."
"Which you will."
"I will not! He is such a strict brother. No boyfriend unless he approves, no being friends someone he does not approve, no going out without his permission, blah, blah, blah. There is no way I am going back!" I know I am acting like a kid, but I don't care. I have the right to.
"If you're not going to return, you are always welcome to stay over."
"Eh? Are you sure Sen won't mind?"
"Sen would be more than happy to have you over."
"I...see..."
Sen has been a bit touchy with me ever since we enter high school. She was never afraid to show her affection towards me, even in public. Since we're both girls, it is only natural for girls to be close and be affectionate physically. There wouldn't be any misunderstanding if girls are touchy with one another. Chikage doesn't mind if Sen was being all touchy towards me because she's a girl. If Sen was a man, Chikage would not tolerate her and would attempt to get rid of her like any other guys that attempt to confess to me.
Kimigiku took notice of my reluctance to accept her hospitality. "You won't come over?"
"I don't want to cause you and Sen any trouble. Besides, I've been thinking. I was only overreacting and ran away without thinking. So, I'm going to go home and apologize to Chikage."
"Sen would be sad."
The next morning...
"Guh!" I don't want Sen to be sad, but we will meet the next morning. It's not like it's going to affect her that much.
"Hiya, cutie!" There came Sen's voice. Then I felt an arm abruptly wrap around my neck.
"Gyah!" I almost fell down.
"Good morning, Haru-Haru," Sen greeted with full of energy.
"Morning, Sen."
"Hey, how come you didn't come over yesterday? If you did, I could've shown you a good time."
Sen is always joking around with me, but whenever she does so, I like her more and more. Her jokes and her teasing make my stomach does flip multiple times that she doesn't even know.
"I want to, but I didn't want to cause Chikage trouble."
Sen pouted. "Are you sure that's all?"
Is she accusing me of something? Does she know something that I don't know?
I was about to come up with an excuse until Chizuru arrives. Just in time. Whenever Chizuru is present, Sen tends to rush over to the former's side, causing me relief. But at the same, I'm a little saddened that Sen might prefer Chizuru more than me.
During the whole day, while classes are still in session, I paid little to no attention to the teacher. I even got scolded by Hijikata, who I usually talk back to.
After class, since I brought my sewing kit, I stay back to fix a small teddy bear for a friend. The thread on the small teddy bear's neck was getting old, so its head looks like it was going to fall off any second. I am diligently working on fixing the neck without letting anything distract me. Until someone came barging into the wrong.
Sen.
"Ah, there you are!" Sen walks over to my desk and sits at the desk next to me from the side. She looks at the small teddy bear in my hands. "Ah, the poor thing!"
"I'm fixing it for a friend." I try to divide my attention between my sewing and talking to Sen. "By the way, why are you here?"
"I went to the Dojo but you weren't there. So, they say you might still be in the classroom."
From the corner of my eye, I notice and heard some movements. Sen has her arms crossed on the table with the side of her head resting on her arms, looking at my direction.
Once we made eye contact, she just smiles at me. An innocent smile.
Minutes later, Sen fell asleep while waiting for me to finish my sewing. I could've finished by now, but I am getting distracted by her sleeping face. I can do anything I want and I wouldn't need to worry.
I look at the small teddy bear I'm sewing up; it looks like I'm about done with fixing it. When I finish, I put the small teddy bear on the desk and start to clean up when my eyes spot the red sewing thread roll. One thing that comes to mind. The red thread of fate.
The myth might not be true, but I at least want to try it for fun. I cut the red sewing thread and tie on Sen's pinky then tie the end of my pinky.
I look at the red sewing thread that connects my pinky to Sen's, and I feel guilty.
What if Sen doesn't feel the same about me? What if Sen already met her fated person?
I grab a pair of scissors and bring it to the hanging red sewing thread that connects me to Sen. Just as I was about to cut it, Sen's free hand grabs my hand with the scissors.
"Why are you cutting it?" Sen was awake the whole time.
"I...just did it for fun." I smile nervously.
Sen looks at the red thread that is tied between her and my pinky. She grabs my hand with the red sewing thread around my pinky and kisses it.
Sen look at me with dreamy eyes. "Is this how you feel about me?"
My cheeks heat up and I couldn't look at Sen in the eye. "I do," I said in a quiet voice.
"Hm? I'm sorry. I couldn't hear you. Can you say it louder?" I can hear the playful tone in her voice.
I am so embarrassed that I just shout, "Geez! I love you!"
Sen giggle. Then she leans toward me and kisses me. I tense up at the sudden feel of Sen's lip pressing against mine.
Sen leans back with a smile on her face. "I love you too, Haruka."
