She goes onto her balcony, looking out at the still water of the lake and the leaves on the maple trees turning orange and yellow. The cup of tea in her hands feels warm, and she wished that she felt that same warmth coming from the sun on her cheekbones. Her and the cold weren't the best of friends. She closes her eyes and thinks of all the times she felt hot sand on the bottoms of her feet. All the waves hitting her knees as she wades in the water. Palm trees would sway in the breeze and she could hear birds chirping while they coasted in the air. She opens her eyes again when the cold air starts to blow. After taking a sip of her tea, she sits down on the deck, and stretches her legs out as far as they can go. "Try and make the most of it" she thinks to herself. The clouds rolling in overhead are gray and she knows it's going to rain soon. She remembers the warm rain in Hawaii and smiles. She knows one day she'll be back where her heart is truly at ease once again. For now, she cherishes the time she has with her family and sleeping in the same bed she's slept in for years, her imprint still there as if she had never left at all.
