Trotting happily along with her new Vulpix at her side, Leaf was deciding what exactly she should do. She only had five pokeballs, so should she catch some more pokemon or just level up Vulpix? Or she could continue on to her first new city. All these things were racing through Leaf's head. Having just become a trainer a few hours ago, she didn't want to screw things up right off the bat. Her thoughts were cut short by a younger boy running up to her, "Hey! I challenge you to a battle, because I know I'll win!" He threw out a pigdey and waited. Leaf was secretly thrilled, her second pokemon battle! She sent out her Vulpix since she had no other pokemon. "Pidgey, use scratch!" The little bird flew forward at it's opponent. Leaf had to do something or else Vulpix was going to get hurt, "Vulpix dodge, and counter attack with tackle!" The little fox leaped out of the birds way and tackled it in the back, before the pidgey had time to do anything. Yelling in frustration, the boy sent more orders at his pokemon, "Try again! Scratch!" Pidgey yet again flew at Vulpix in a attempt to lower it's HP. "Vulpix, same as before." Following it's trainer's orders, Vulpix leaped around the pidgey and managed to land a powerful hit. The hit knocked the pidgey out of the air, and it was called back to it's pokeball by it's distressed trainer. "I can't believe I lost!" The boy grumbled but handed over the prize money and ran away, probably to a pokemon center. Leaf practically jumped with joy, sure she crushed that poor boy's dreams, but she won! Her and Vulpix shared a small, silent celebration and continued on their way. She had to keep pushing forward or Blue was going to leave her in the dust, and she won't let Red best her either! She had already proven to Blue she wasn't a weakling, so she has to keep growing stronger. Although surprises lurk around every corner for our heroine, what will happen to her next chapter?
