The morning was dreary. A dense fog rolled over the cliff side as the sound of rain rattled off of the roof of the cottage.

Eden felt the heaviness of his father's arm draped over his shoulder. He smiled. Happy to have been able to comfort his father while he slept. He moved slowly, so as not to disturb his father from his slumber. Knowing how much the man enjoyed sleeping in on days like this.

Slipping out of bed, his toes pressed to the floor, a small creak in the wooden plank welcomed his feet. Eden turned toward the door and crept out of the room slowly.

Once he was out of the room, he grabbed a small apron that hung from the back of a chair that sat tucked beneathe the kitchen table. He tied it on and got to work on breakfast, which he hadn't quite decided on. His body seemed to move instinctively, making sweet zucchini bread for breakfast. His mother enjoyed this recipe on rainy mornings, as it helped to lift ones mood.

He smiled. But it was soon taken from him when a familiar stillness in the air welcomed him.

It was almost as if time had stopped or slowed down. The world around him stood still.

Eden ripped off his apron and bolted to his father's bedroom. The door flung open, as he ran in to his father's side.

His hands gently grabbing the man's broad shoulder in attempt to wake him, but were greeted by a familiar chill.
Eden fell to his knees. He let out a sorrowful scream and wept at his father's bedside. It was there that Eden came to realise that he was all alone. His weeping lasted for hours that morning. Mourning the death of his father.

His thoughts were barrage of questions he no longer knew the anwsers for. He just sat there, feeling empty inside. Like all of the light had been stolen from him.

Everyone he knew and loved. Gone.

Hours have passed. Eden has long since burried the body of his father. Both of his parents lie at peace, side by side. Their loving memory would live on in Edens heart.

The boy knew it wouldn't be what his parents would have wanted for him. To be sitting here mourning their deaths. Wondering "what now..?"

He couldn't let himself think that way. He stood up. His neck cranes as he looked toward the sky.
His thoughts still raced through his mind. He needed silence. He needed escape.

Eden turned and ran down the cliff side, the sharp edges of rocks catching the soles of his feet with every step he took.
He shook it off. The physical pain was easy to block out the moment his feet hit the cold, soothing cushion of the wet sand.

A soft glow emitted from the waves as his eyes met the ocean. The water churned underneath the stormy skies and it had soon begun to rain as Eden stepped forth into the heaving waves.
The pain he felt was unreal. At least. He wished it wasn't real.
He wished he could go back and thank them both for their kindness and devotion to raising a child, him, someone who was not their own.

Eden fell to his knees and wept. The choppy waves that rushed onto shore felt like a warm hug around his waist. He felt as if he was being pulled in.
A song rung softly in his ears, it sounded so beautiful. Almost like a lullaby he had once heard before, very long ago.

"O'child of Poseidon...
   ...  O'child of time
Let your heart be one with mine....
... Cast your worries to the wind
      Your soul to swim....
   My darling...
    ...  O'child of time

Eden fell asleep within moments of the songs end. His body drifted into the sea, into the arms of the one who gave him life.
