Logan paced in his study. Roman should have arrived for his lessons 15 minutes ago. After their conversation yesterday Logan assumed Roman had just gone back into his room and would return to him tomorrow with a brand new list of ideas. However, as the moments ticked on, Logan couldn't help but worry that Roman had done something incredibly stupid.

At last his fears took over, and Logan left to go search for the Prince. As he left, however, he ran into one of the guards.

"Excuse me, Master Logan?"

"Yes, Brutus? What seems to be the issue?"

"Well, it's nothing personal sir, it's just that the king has decreed that you stay in your quarters for the time being. For your safety, of course."

"Has he now?" Logan raised an eyebrow in interest. "Well, if the king decrees it, so it shall be."

In his study, Logan quickly gathered some spell books and ingredients. Throwing them into a bag, he grabbed a few larger vials from a chest and prepared for his departure.

Opening the door, he quickly threw a sleep potion at the guard's feet, causing him to collapse and allowing Logan to sneak out of his room.

At the moment, his primary concern was Roman. Making his way to the Prince's room, he opened the door to find Roman sitting still on the bed.

"Roman? Roman we need to leave."

Roman looked up. To Logan's horror, he noticed that Roman's eyes were glazed over with a dark tinge.

"I'm sorry, Master Logan, but I'm afraid we can't do that." Roman said in a monotone voice.

"Roman, darn it!" Logan concentrated, thinking of a spell that could help in this situation. In a hurry, he cast it, and for a moment Roman's eyes returned to normal.

"Roman?"

"Logan I need to make this quick. It's Dolos. He's the source of everything; all of the issues in the kingdom, the behavior of my father, everything. I was so stupid, Logan, I went after him, even though you I told me not to. I'm sorry, I'm so sorry."

Roman started crying, and Logan awkwardly came over and attempted to comfort him.

"He's going to make me do something bad, Logan." Roman muffled into Logan's sleeve. "And I'm not going to be able to stop him. You need to find help."

"I'm not leaving you behind Roman."

"You have to." Roman shoved Logan off of him. "You don't understand how powerful he is."

"I think I can take him, Roman."

"No, you can't." Roman pointed to his eyes, which were already starting to darken. "I don't have that much time, Logan. You need to find some help and stop him. You can come back for me; I'll be alright, I promise."

Logan stood frozen. He should have run, tried to escape the castle while he still could, but he couldn't leave Roman behind. As much as it pained him, Logan forced himself to leave the room. Whenever he encountered a guard he threw a random vial from his bag at them, not even bothering to read the labels anymore. Some were knocked out, some were turned into animals, and one or two may have exploded.

As Logan fled the castle, Dolos strutted down the hallway, glancing at the carnage. One of the remaining guards asked if they should dispatch a unit to apprehend him.

"It's not necessary," Dolos said. "He'll come back. I guarantee it."

"Could you get that Virgil? I'm a little busy at the moment."

Virgil got up to answer the door. Whoever it was clearly had no patience. As he opened the door, Master Logan, for some reason, came barreling through, slamming the door behind him. He was out of breath, his glasses nearly falling off of his face.
