"ew, can you guys stop?" seungmin groaned. again. it always seemed as if minho and jisung couldn't stop eating eachother's face. especially right in front of seungmin. he couldn't stand it even when he wasn't trying to eat."ah, s-sorry seungminnie!" jisung cried as he quickly tried to push minho off of him. yeah they were dating and stuff but they needed to relax with their pda, if you asked seungmin. he wasn't much of a romantic. or maybe he just thinks so because he doesn't endorse much into his romantic side. either way:
not a fan.
"maybe you're just jealous because you're single~" minho teased to which seungmin rolled his eyes.
"am not. even if i wanted to date someone, no one in this place would ever date me." seungmin sighed. he did secretly want someone to like him. he loved the feeling of being adored. well, who doesn't?
but he knew he wouldn't find anyone in college. most of the people there don't even know him. if they do know him, they don't know anything about him. he wasn't very social so he didn't go to many parties. just small get-togethers with his friends.
he was rather proud of his friends, though. they had built a good relationship and seungmin thought they were all great people. he loved his friends, even if he didn't have many.
"you don't know that for sure! you gotta get yourself out there, you know?" minho urged.
"god, you sound like my mom."
"well, maybe your mom had a point."
"well, maybe you should go-"
ring ring.
"ahh man that's too bad. that's my alarm. gotta go!" seungmin said sarcastically. he grabbed his bag and headed off to his last lecture of the day. he scheduled them early so he wouldn't have to worry about it all day. plus, he was extra productive in the morning.
he arrived at his lecture a bit early, there weren't many students there yet. he saw the professor at the front. he looked comcentrated om something on his computer.
"mr. li?"
"oh, hello seungmin!" seungmin bowed quickly in response. "what's up?"
"i was working last lecture, so i missed a bit of work. can you fill me in please?" he asked softly. he didn't really like talking to people he didn't know well. it made him uncomfortable.
"of course. i was just introducing a research project that we were going to work on. it's pretty self explanatory, but i'll go over it again today after assigning partners."
"oh okay! wait- assigning partners?"
"yes. it's a social project! college is the perfect time for making lasting bonds and friendships!" he said excitedly.
"right. well, um, thank you professor," he said, bowing once more before rushing into a seat.
assigning partners? people here didn't even know him, much less want to be partnered up for a social project. plus, there were some pretty scary dudes in his lecture. one of his friends, felix, was in it also, but the chances of them being partners are slim to none. his professor knew they were friends anyway.
"okay! today i will announce partners for the research social project!" mr. li yelled as he clapped his hands loudly. he pulled out a list. he was only listening for his own name. he heard felix's, but didn't pay much attention to it.
"kim seungmin and seo changbin! hey, that rhymes!" he yelled, chuckling to himself. well it could've been worse. changbin looks scary, but he's felix told him that he's actually pretty stupid. him and changbin are close. he wouldn't mind just doing all the work rather than getting someone he didn't like.
he waited for the lecture to be over so he could talk to felix.
"felix! who are-"
"please switch partners with me!" felix cried. he clasped his hands together and pouted. "pleeeaassseee!" he whined.
"huh? why?" seungmin asked. he was genuinely confused. he didn't know felix's partner or why felix would want to be with changbin.
"it's just, changbin and i are good friends! and he's really hot. and his voice is so sexy. and-"
"okay, i've heard enough. what's in it for me?" seungmin asked. he honestly wouldn't mind switching partners, but felix didn't have to know that.
"um, i'll buy you lunch for the next three days?"
"you're lucky im broke."
"pinkie promise?" seungmin sighed and intertwined his pinkie finger with felix.
"who even is your partner anyway?" seungmin asked. hopefully it was someone who he didn't know so they didn't have to talk often.
"oh yeah, that."
"well?"
"hwung hyunjin."
"what?!"
"oh, wow, is that changbin? better go! we have a project to work on. bye! love you! you're the best!" felix said before sprinting off. seungmin swallowed the lump in his throat before going up to the professor. he kept his promises. and he was still broke. and hungry.
"mr. li? is it okay if me and felix switch partners?" seungmin asked grimly.
"why do you ask?"
"something about food. please?"
"i don't see why not. hyunjin!" the boy came jogging over, still faintly laughing from a conversation with his friends.
"what's up, professor?"
"you're switching partners. instead of felix, you have seungmin right here! i'm off to lunch. have a nice day you two!" mr. li said and left, leaving seungmin stunned and a bit nervous.
"oh, hey seungmin! you're really smart right?"
"um, y-yeah, i guess. i could j-just do it i-i guess. y-you don't need to talk to me," seungmin mumbled as he felt his cheeks heating up. not only was hyunjin attractive, but he was also popular. the fact that a popular, attractive person was talking to him just made him panic. especially since hyunjin hasn't looked away from seungmin's eyes.
"aw, why not? i've only talked to you this once and you're the cutest thing i've ever seen."
what? cute? seungmin? no. seungmin doesn't do "cute." especially from hyunjin.
"a-am not! you're just saying that!" he stuttered as his face went completely red.
"that sounds like something a cute person would say."
"i-i- have a nice day!" seungmin cried before sprinting off in the other direction. hyunjin chuckled to himself and watched seungmin run away.
yeah, it was normal for hyunjin to tease people, but seungmin's reactions gave him a feeling he wasn't going to stop anytime soon.
