Chapter 4

Shia ran around her room throwing clothes in a huge suitcase. Neha had come back from work, and was currently leaning on the doorway snacking on some popcorn and watching the frantic scene in front of her. Finally finishing packing she ran out to her car but Neha ran out of the house. “You can’t take the car mine has a problem and is getting fixed so I need to use your car to get to work tomorrow.” “Fine, but then you have to drive me to the airport,” Shia replied. “Nope! Henry and I are going to look at flowers! Take a taxi!”, Neha shouted running back into the house to get ready. Shia stood in the driveway shocked and confused about what to do. Her dad was at work and her mom had just left 30 minutes ago to get groceries. She stomped into the house angrily to look up some taxi numbers and wait for a taxi. When she called them she was disappointed since the people said that there was a 40 minute wait for the taxi. “This better not make me miss my flight,” she mumbled to herself.

10 minutes later she heard the front door open and heard her mom voice talking on the phone. “Yes! She can drive me!”, she thought to herself. Suddenly the doorbell rang and her mom opened the door. “Shia! There is a boy named Alexander here to pick you up for work!”, she yelled. “Yes we are going to the business meeting together and we are going to return a couple day before the wedding,” Shia replied. “You should come to the wedding with Shia after the business meeting,” her mom told Alexander. “What?!”, Shia exclaimed. “Yes!”, Maya said with a wink to Shia. “Beta, you need a boy I told all the aunts that you would bring someone,” Maya whispered to Shia in a different language. “Thank you for the invitation! I will definitely try my best to attend,” Alexander politely responded while smirking at Shia’s horrified face. “Come on Shia let’s get going. The flight is in an hour,” Alexander told Shia walking out the door after saying goodbye to Maya. Shia followed him out with a visible frown on her face. As she was leaving she saw her dad pull in the driveway and rolled her eyes at her parents conspicuously talking on the porch about Shia and Alexander.

The airport was surprisingly busy for ten in the evening. The professional in Shia couldn’t help but inspect and observe every single civilian for any signs of a threat and by the look Alexander sent her way, Shia knew he had caught her in the act. “Do you ever relax?” *insert glare from Shia* Alex mumbled this while rolling his eyes and Shia thought she caught a hint of amusement within them along with exasperation. “Well not everyone can be as reckless and irresponsible as you,” she remarked while checking in at the kiosk.

“You make an adorable couple!” an old lady (nametag: Rachel) in the average American Airline uniform commented while smiling wide at the kiosk and putting tags on their bags and sending them away.

“Ew!” Shia screamed causing everyone around to stare. Alex just smirked and winked at her which made her all the more furious as she took her passport back from Rachel and bid her a

grumpy goodbye. Of course, they need to blend in and she gets thrusted into economy seating with Alexander’s arm plastered to her own. At least the cute, adorable, and utterly gorgeous little baby seated next to her with his mom made things a little more tolerable. Honestly, that kid is so cute! Shia thought as she drifted off to sleep, unknowingly on Alexander’s shoulder. Shia felt a little hand smack her face and wake her up from her rather nice nap as she opened her eyes to witness the most begrudgingly adorable scene ever.  Alex was sitting next to her playing with the adorable baby rockstar as his mom slept on next to Shia. The baby was eating his tie but he didn’t seem to care as he made silly faces at the baby. Alexander seemed carefree and looked nothing like the shrewd spy he was and Shia surprisingly liked this side of him that was something more than cunning or reckless. Unfortunately, it was that very moment when Alexander must have felt her eyes on him as he turned to look right at her, accidentally turning the little baby’s attention on her necklace as he started pulling on her necklace and Alexander’s tie simultaneously. The two items immediately tangled and they were definitely too close for comfort. The baby’s mother woke up, took the baby as he was on half of Alexander’s and half of Shia’s lap and started apologizing to Alex for all the trouble by constantly touching his arm and not so subtle flirting with him. Shia rolled her eyes and tried to go back to sleep but couldn’t. She kept on listening in to the conversation and getting annoyed (not jealous, nope definitely not).

Why did Alex look so happy? Gosh he is such a flirt, she thought to herself. She tried to ignore the talking and go back to sleep but she couldn’t find a comfortable spot to rest her head. As she let out a sigh Alex turned to look at her. “Hey, do you want to borrow my shoulder again?” He asked with a genuine smile instead of his stupid smirk. Shocked at this new side of him, Shia didn’t know how to reply so she just shook her head with widened eyes which in turn caused Alexander to let out a chuckle as he closed his eyes.

“BAA---M!”

“Aah!” Shia screamed as a pair of stunning eyes came in view and she realized that she just had another nightmare about one of her missions last year. Alexander shook her awake as some people were passed out asleep and others were staring at her with annoyed expressions. “You okay there Shia?” Alexander inquired as he scanned her body for any obvious signs of hurt with a worried look. He looks kind of cute with a wrinkled forehead Shia thought and mentally slapped herself. “Yup just a dream. Nothing to worry about.” “Do you wanna talk about it?” “Not really.. I just want to go back to sleep.” “Okay,” he hesitantly replied but then pulled her head to his shoulder.
