Chapter 7: Just Stopping By

Charles POV

I hope Berry's alright. He hasn't come to school today and he didn't respond to my text messages I had send him yesterday night and this morning. As the day went on my worrying got worse. I wasn't focusing in classes that I actually liked, I couldn't eat lunch, and I almost got hit by a basketball in gym as well. I began to think that Berry was upset with me and he wouldn't give me another chance to redeem myself. After School had ended for the day I decided not to walk to my place but to Berry's place instead just to check on him of course. This place hasn't changed a bit sense we where kids. I knocked on the door and Berry's mother came to answer "Hello how may I help you- Charles is that you!?" She said with joy in her voice "It's been so long. Look how big you've gotten." She smiled as I nervously rubbed my arm "Heh yeah it's been a while. Hey is Berry home? I wanted to see if he's alright." I asked her as she nods "Mhm he's in his room. Though he isn't in the best of shape after what happened last night..." She allowed me inside and I walked in. Remembering where Berry's room was I knocked in the door. As I was about to knock again the door opened slowly as I could see already that Berry's ear was a bit torn at the tip "Berry are you oka!-" he closed the door in my face and I knocked again "Come on open up. Please I came all this way to see if you where okay.." I heard a soft sigh as the door opened up. I saw that Berry was all cut up and his tail was between his legs which a sign he was nervous. I rushed into the room and opened his window for more sunlight to come in "What happened to you?!" I yelled as I gently grasped his are only to see chain marks. Berry flinched and pulled his arm away walking back to his bed not saying a word "Berry tell me what happened!" I walked over to his bed and pilled the blanket off of him. As Berry was laying on his side I could see even more cuts and gashes in his skin "Did...did someone try to.." Berry nodded and brought the blanket back up to his chest. Berry started whining like a dog would when upset or scared. I rest my hand on Berry's shoulder and he flinched once again "Oh no Berry i'm so sorry that this happened." Berry had gotten up and looked up to me. I was a bit taller than him so it felt a bit odd. Though I could hear and see it in his actions that it hurt him to even stand, Berry gave me a hug. I gently hugged him back, but Berry was pulling me closer to his body. I blushed "O-okay Berry t-that is enough with t-the hugging.." Berry didn't let go untell he fell to the floor. I could hear him whining like a dog would so I picked him up as fast as I could to put him in his bed "You really need to rest Berry. It's isn't good for you to be standing up when you're like this." He nodded and I lied down next to him while i was still in my school cloths. Berry was facing away from me and I could feel his tail fluff on my hand. I smirked and gently pulled his tail as I heard Berry yelped "CHARLES!" He pushed me out of the bed and onto the floor. I chuckled and got up "Hey it's not that serious it's just a tail." Berry stood up straight and turned to face me "That's like me grabbing your butt Charles it's embarrassing." I chuckled and got closer to Berry's face and placed my hand on his cheek. I could feel his face heating up from my touch and I blushed a tiny bit "Oh really now?" I has started to tug gently at Berry's tail and he covered his face from embarrassment I guess, but it was cute and I liked it alot maybe a bit to much. I could feel my face heat up as we got closer to each other are lips almost into contact with one another, but Berry flinched and yellped once again as I had accidentally pressed down two hard on his thigh "Ow damn Charles." His face was still kinda red as he gently pushed me off. I cought my balance and stood up stright "Oh I'm sorry Berry I didn't mean to!" I was just standing there still blushing out of embarrassment as I picked my bag up and looked back at Berry "Well um I guess you need your time to rest, so I'll just leave you to it." I turned around and as I took my first step I felt as Berry grab my arm "Wait, please promise me you will stop by tomorrow." He looked at me with those damn cute puppy eye's and I just couldn't say no to that. Hey don't judge me if you had a heart you would to the same! Anyways I turned and looked Berry in the eye's and chuckled a bit "Course Berry." I hugged him and he hugged me back, but as I was about to let go I grabbed Berry's butt just for the laugh "Pffft-" I covered my mouth and looked at Berry's face. I could tell it was a mix of embarrassment and anger, but I know he can't stay mad at me forever.
