It is nearly seven-o'-clock and the sound of an electronic tea kettle beeps. Nearby, a small, clean cup that says "My Hero" sits. The sound of the steaming tea pouring into the cup satisfies the nature around the bottom floor... including Donald. Donald F. Duck is his name. A son, brother, cousin, nephew, uncle, and a boyfriend; quite average. From the reflection of the kitchen window, Donald begins sipping his tea calmly. The chilled expression on his face, along with a cut near his left eye appears in the reflection. In front of him, the dark, night sky covering the neighborhood along with some lights coming from the city in the distance.

Some green detox tea and a calm night... what else? The clock nearly striking seven and Donald has to watch an interview hosted by a great friend of his. Donald walks himself to the couch and still keeps it calm. The TV turns on to Channel 00 and the first clip that fades onto the screen is a commercial for Dragon Express Chinese Take-Out, then another commercial for Tekkon Fashion. After another commercial and the system clock strikes seven, the program starts.

"Welcome to Access Duckburg on Channel 00. I'm your host, Lyla Lay and in tonight's interview, 'he's the greatest; he's fantastic,' they say. He and his sidekick have done many world missions together and their strength has defied the odds. From the Danger Agency of London, England, let's welcome, Danger Mouse and Ernest Penfold!"

The audience roars as the two appear on stage.

"Good evening, Mr. Mouse, how are you?" Lyla asks.
"Fine, thank you, madame." Danger Mouse replies.
"How about you, Mr. Penfold?"
"I'm... on TV? This is... amazing! Millions of people are watching us, DM!" Penfold exclaims with excitement.
"You two have been saving the world by your incredible bravery and strength! I know missions are difficult, but explain the experience of your most recent mission, Mr. Mouse."

Several questions and answers passed on and on. Donald looked puzzled as he noticed something up with Penfold. Throughout the time being, Penfold seemed to get shyer and shyer.

"Could it be that he's just shy... or... the usual-usual?" Donald thought to himself.
The "usual-usual" Donald meant was that men would crush on Lyla during the interview because a lot of men find her attractive. Well, of course, Lyla is indeed attractive, but Penfold is normally a timid little hamster, as of what Donald already knows. Could this be the typical timid... or could it be something else? Even Danger Mouse was noticing his sidekick acting that way as it seemed like he has never seen Penfold act that way before. They'll have to stay puzzled until it gets figured out.

The interview reaches the end with the audience roaring, applauding, and "thank you's." Lyla leaves the stage feeling different. She prepares to go home still feeling the same as she packs her stuff up.

"What is this strange feeling? Should I ask Donald or should I just not say a word about it?" Lyla thinks to herself. She was desperate for an answer. Being impatient, Lyla decides to give Donald a call on her flip-phone.

Donald, on the other hand, hears the phone ring. He rushes to pick up the house phone; it was from Lyla.

"Hello?"
"Donald... may I ask you a question? I hope it isn't... tacky." Lyla said.
"Tacky? What do you mean?" Donald asks in confusion.
"I don't know... I think it's weird. I think I shouldn't have called you." Lyla replies in embarrassment.
"Don't hang up, Lyla! Just ask me!" Donald exclaims.
"Okay, it's about the interview," Lyla states, "I noticed Mr. Penfold... acting way shy than usual. Actually, I'm feeling the same way too."

A short pause is between Lyla's feelings and the question she asks.

"Have you ever felt that way?"
"I have," Donald replies, "You like Penfold?"
"Well, he's kinda cute... I guess," Lyla replies, "I'm not sure if he's feeling the same way... or is it just me?"
"I don't know. Maybe you have to see for yourself. I think it's too early to tell him because you two just met. I'm not the best at this kind of advice, but... did you get your answer?" Donald explained.
"Thank you, Donald. Of course. You know that you're always there for me when I need you." Lyla responds happily.

Lyla closes her flip-phone and leave the Channel 00 building. As she walks around the city, the neon lights flashing from the buildings and the lights from the advertisement billboards illuminate Lyla. Lights of purple, hot pink, cyan, and white bloom around her. From Donald's humble abode, these illuminating colors blend into white from the distance. As the night begins to grow, he prepares himself for bed as he waits on Huey, Dewey, and Louie to get home from a Junior Woodchucks-related evening activity.

"Lyla... has a crush... on Penfold?! I wasn't expecting this tonight!" Donald thought.

This night is no ordinary night; it is a night that starts it all: love is in the air and Cupid has hit Penfold and Lyla with an arrow tonight. This night... is the night of a new beginning. The sun that rises tomorrow is the start of a brand new day, but no ordinary day. ~*~

Author's notes:
Well, that's a very odd beginning. I probably spent at least an hour writing this chapter? Still, very descriptive and lovely. Tell me what you think about the story so far!

Wow... it's 3 AM! Who knows how many hours from now, I'll be heading to Kent Island in the eastern shores Maryland to take my mom for a birthday vacation for the weekend. I'm excited to see what it's like over there, but I'm not sure if I would write the second part during the vacation or not... hmmm... I'll see about that!
