"Why did you come here?"The question seemed quite sudden to Berry, she looked at his eyes, losing herself when she met his green orbs. He seemed so angry, spiting each word with poisonous hatred. The honest truth is, when the light reflected on Berry's face and she turned towards him at the sound of his voice, Xavier's heart melted like chocolate placed in a hot pot made of sliver. What he had vowed to himself was to never show the love he had for Berry ever again. So he kept a stern face, a cold manner and distance towards her.
...
"Why are you here Berry?" Xavier said once more, irritated at Berry's silence.
"Sorry?" Berry said. She didn't understand the meaning of the question, it was the Harmones that made contact with her and Brody in the first place.
"Why have you come here?" Xavier asked rather slowly, as if directing an old citizen to the nearest bakery.
"I understood the first time Xavier, there's no need for you to phrase it differently." Berry replied in a bored tone, rolling her eyes.
Xavier was taken aback by her voice, it had matured quite a bit since he last heard it, but still held a lot of resemblance to that of a child."I'd love for an answer." He said masking his emotions.
"Xavier I don't really understand how you can ask me this question, first of all I'm not even certain if you're real or not. This might just be the result of some sort of medication I took. I must be dreaming." Berry said getting up, pulling at her hair. "I'm dead aren't I?"
Xavier furrowed his brows together, his irritation rising up once more. Berry was getting on his nerves, why couldn't she just answer the simple question?
"The heck, Berry seriously you're digging into my skin, answer the simple question."
"Xavier, I'd love to answer the question, the only problem is I don't understand what it means." Berry retorted with a frown starring down at Xavier's sitting form.
Xavier's irritation shot through the roof at Berry's reply. He got up and towered over her, anger evident all over his features. His eyes no longer a deep green hazel colour but a completely dark green. His mind just coming to terms with the fact that his mate was with his best friend. He stared down at her with such hatred that he himself feared he'd kill her should he get any closer. He let his eyes roam over her hastily. He couldn't comprehend what was happening with himself as he felt his anger vanish when he made eye contact with Berry. It was as if his body had a mind if its own as his hand reached up from his side to Berry's face. He moved her face to the side, revealing the indentions of his canines, his mark. His features turned soft as a pillow. He absentmindedly brushed his pointing finger across the mark. He watched her skin prickle with goosebumps as she closed her eyes and sucked in a breath.
As if being burnt by fire, he removed his hand from her skin. He realised that it was his animalistic side taking control. He felt so overwhelmed, seeing his mark on her neck brought back memories. All the memories came at quick speed, barely having time to digest them, he made his way back to the step and sat down, rubbing his temples as a way to sooth the upcoming headache.
Berry was left in a haze, her mind clogged with images of the time she received her mark. The laughter, the emotions, the love. She took a moment to compose herself, seconds later she moved forward and sat beside Xavier. His eyes still closed, hands rubbing his temples. She gathered all the courage she could sum up, she sat next to him and rubbed his back. She felt him tense at her touch, scared he might reject the offer, she removed her hands from his back and placed them on her thighs rather.
"Please Berry, I need answers. You can't expect less of me when you've been M.I.A for the past five years. I've never been so emotionally and mentally confused in my entire life. Please, why are you here now, after so many years?"
"Look, I don't know what game you're playing at sir, but I was summoned here by your parents, Brody and I that is. All this time I have learnt to live without you, I was finally moving on, Brody was, is healing me, then yesterday night he informed me that your folks wanted to meet with us." Berry said facing forward, seemingly lost in her thoughts.
"When you died Xavier, it was like... I don't know how to explain it, it was so mentally painful. I had given you my heart, I was content with letting you do as you please with it. I was undeniably in love with you, I remember how great I use to feel when I looked into your eyes, I was so grateful to God for blessing me with you, I prayed every night and just thanked God. So can you just imagine what I went through when you supposedly died!"
Xavier looked at Berry as if she had barked throughout her entire monologue. He was at a loss for words. He believed everything she said but one detail seemed to be out of place.
"Wait who did you say invited you here?" Xavier asked, his thinking face on as the gears in his head sprung to full force.
"Your parents." Berry replied looking at him up and down as she recognised the face he was pulling. Her lips tugged forward as she remembered all the times she'd seen his thinking face.
Xavier looked at her intently, letting his animal senses get on the field, as he wondered if Berry was being fully honest or not. When he didn't sense any jitterness from Berry he came to terms that she was indeed being honest.
"I beg to differ, my parents died three years ago."
