the beginning
Charlotte Lee stood, frozen in front of the school gate. Behind the gate was a cherry-blossom pathway leading to an enormous building with modern architecture. Although, she had to admit that it was impressive and very beautiful, the whole aura of her new school certainly frightened her. Charlotte didn't know what her fellow students would think of her. After all, who transfers schools in the middle of senior year? Her plan was to show up to her new class with a feeling of confidence radiating off her, but now that she was actually here she was definitely feeling self conscious.
"Excuse me, Miss?"
Charlotte yelped at the sound of a melodic, feminine voice coming from behind her as she was positive that she had come far too early for anybody else to be here. She quickly turned around and found herself looking at one of the most beautiful girls that she'd ever laid her eyes on. The girl had pale skin, big brown eyes, long brown hair with soft curls and see-through bangs. Not to mention that her natural, peachy makeup was on point.
Charlotte felt a wave of envy and insecurity wash over her as she stared, speechless at the sight of this beautiful woman. She didn't even notice that her mouth was agape until it felt dry.
"Are you new?" The girl asked.
She seemed to be a fellow student as she was wearing a uniform similar to Charlotte's which consisted of either a white or navy uniform vest, white dress shirt, a plaid skirt, a matching bow and black/white knee-high socks. It was fall and the weather was particularly cold, so the girl was also wearing an oversized coat.
"O-Oh, um! Yes, I am." Charlotte responded and bowed, before holding out her hand. "I'm Charlotte Lee."
The girl bowed slightly before shaking Charlotte's hand and introducing herself.
"I'm Bae Hye-rin." The girl replied, letting go of Charlotte's hand as she wanted to pull her sleeves over her fingers. "Let's go inside. I'll walk you to your class. Who's your teacher?"
Charlotte checked her schedule and purses her lips in confusion, before looking at Hye-rin who was standing patiently beside her.
"Only one classroom? There's no rotating?" She asked Hye-rin, who shook her head as a response and used her ID Card to open the door.
Charlotte sighed in relief as she took a step inside and was greeted with warm air. After a few minutes of warming themselves up, the girls returned to their mission of finding Charlotte's class. Hye-rin peeked over Charlotte's shoulder and clapped her hands after seeing her teacher.
"Oh! We're in the same class." She chirped, happily. "It's actually really close to here."
Hye-rin lead the way to the classroom which was, surprisingly, the first room of the second floor. Charlotte felt relieved that she met a friend who would gladly show her around and breathed a quiet sigh of relief.
"Nobody's here yet, though. Except some students." Hye-rin said, opening the classroom door. "Our teacher always comes super early, so some students from our class are already here at 7:00 or 6:00 in the morning."
Charlotte nodded, following Hye-rin to the back of the room where the students' cabinets were located. She found the cabinet that was assigned to her and changed into her indoor slippers afterwards. There were name-tags on the desks as well, so she had to simply sit at the very back beside the window—-which was thankfully beside Hye-rin's seat!
"Hm, my friend is almost here. You'll get along with him well, although he's a bit sassy at times." Hye-rin whispered, turning a page in her notebook.
As if on cue, the door slid open and in came a handsome boy with pink hair wearing a white dress shirt on top of a white uniform vest with a blue and red tie, black pants and white adidas sneakers. Charlotte's eyes widened and her mouth was agape due to shock. Her eyes unintentionally followed the boy, who has just finished changing his shoes and had taken the seat in front of Hye-rin.
"Charlotte-ssi, this is my friend Na Jaemin. Jaemin, this is the new student." Hye-rin said, introducing the two to each other.
Na Jaemin turned to face Charlotte's direction and gave her one of his signature grins. He ran his hand through his hair before greeting her.
"Hello. You're a transfer, right? Where are you from?" He asked, leaning against the wall.
Charlotte looked back and forth at her two newfound friends and thought, 'Why is everybody in this school beautiful?' She didn't notice that Jaemin had asked a question until he tilted his head and looked at her with eyes full of curiosity.
"I'm from Canada." She responded finally and nodded. "So, how long until class starts?"
"Another hour. I'm going down to the cafeteria, I'll be back!" Hye-rin says, standing up and walking out of the room.
Charlotte gulped, awkwardly. She didn't think that Hye-rin would decide to leave her alone with this freakishly good looking boy! After all, she was too awkward when it came to starting conversations with boys she found cute or, you know, people in general.
"Hye-rin is really pretty." Charlotte said, unintentionally.
Jaemin bit his lip to prevent from laughing at her odd choice of conversation starters and instead faced her with an amused smirk.
"Yeah, I suppose. That was really random." He chuckled, shaking his head.
"Well, I get nervous and tend to go on and on about random things in front of attractive people." Charlotte retorted, clasping her hand over her mouth as soon as she registered what she'd just said.
Jaemin let out a short half-laugh, half-shriek at her response before scribbling down something on a sticky note. He slid it to her and smiled.
"That's my number. In case you want to unintentionally compliment me again." Jaemin teased.
Charlotte couldn't help but turn red at those words as she placed the sticky note in her pencil case. She didn't expect that kind of response from him. She also didn't expect the words that came out of his mouth shortly after.
"You know, I like your blunt personality. I like you, Charlotte Lee."

This is the uniform the students in Charlotte's school wear. There's also black pants for girls to wear, as well.
