So there we were; sitting in the blinding white hospital and yet debilitating darkness.
I reached for Chan's hand. As soon as my fingers twisted around his he collapsed against my shoulder and sobbed. I kept staring forward, gently rubbing his back and whispering to him
"They'll be okay"
"It will get better"
I didn't believe myself but I hoped that if I repeated it enough times I would. I glanced into the dark window leading to their room. Staring at my reflection, I started tearing up. They all went out so Chan and I could have some alone time and look where it landed them - the fucking hospital.
Jeonghan suddenly stood up, wiping his cheeks.
"I'm going to get some coffee. Wanna come?"
I nodded and gave Chan a kiss on his cheek before walking down the hall with Jeonghan.
He stared at the ground and sighed, tears threatening to escape his eyes.
"Hey"
He turns towards me and I hold out my arms. He comes closer and does the same as Chan, collapsing against my chest and starting to cry again. After a moment, we kept walking to the cafeteria. We ordered our coffee at the little café and sat down to wait.
"They'll be fine, okay?"
"How will they? I mean, they're in there in critical condition. I'd give everything to get them out of there."
We look across the room and see Joshua and Jihoon sitting silently. I began to call out for them, but Jeonghan stopped me.
"Don't. They deserve some alone time."
I nodded and we grabbed our coffees, heading back towards the room.
As soon as we turned the corner into the right hall, we saw Chan weeping infront of the window, what looked like a dozen doctors circulating in and out of the room.
"What happened, baby?"
"Se-Seungcheol"
Jeonghan began to panic, frantically asking the doctors what happened.
This can't be happening.
