violets POV

"how was your day at school?" My mom, Kelly, said as I walked into the house. "It was good. I'm glad it's my senior year. Tomorrow is supposed to be my last day. I just have to go to take a test then ill be out of there for good!."  I laugh while grabbing an apple off the counter. "Why's that?" she asks as she grabs a pot from the sink so she could start making dinner.

"I missed class Today because I had a doctors appointment."

She nods her head while grabbing steaks out of the freezer. "Hey, I'm going to go up to my room, call me down when the food is done," I tell her before going upstairs to my room.  I grabbed my journal from off my desk and sat on my bed. I wrote down a few poems, before dinner.

I was very fatigued and ready to go to sleep after dinner, so I decided to lie down. I immediately fell asleep.

Around the time the sun came up, I decided to go to Starbucks before carrying on with my day. There was a boy in line in front of me. I studied his tattoos as he ordered his food and coffee. He turned around and glanced down at me before paying for his things. I grabbed a pack of crackers from the shelf before going up to the counter. "Hi." I greeted the barista. I ordered my usual, an iced white mocha coffee. While I was pulling my wallet out of my purse, the man behind the counter told me that my things were already paid for. I looked over at the boy who was in front of me before and he smiled, walking out of the door. I told the barista to tell him I said thank you next time he comes in. "No need for me to tell him, he told me to write his number on your cup." He smiles at me while handing me my coffee. "Thank you," I said while grabbing my drink and crackers off the counter.

It was fairly windy as I walked outside. I looked for the boy, but he was nowhere to be found. I sighed before making my way across the street. A few of the good things about living in New York City is that there is always something to do. I walked across the street and went into a clothing store. I picked out a few jeans and went up to the register to pay for them. As I retrieved my money from my wallet, I took a glance out the window and saw a couple of guys standing there, pointing at me. I didn't look long enough to realize who it was. After paying for my clothes, I looked to see if they were still there but when I looked, it was just the boy I saw at Starbucks. He smiles before walking away.  I walk out of the store and looked for him. He was walking down the sidewalk with a few of his friends, the ones I saw in the window.

At that time, I decided to call the number on my cup. I watched carefully as the boy pulled his phone out of his pocket, then looking back at me. He tells his friends something before turning around and walking back towards me. I hung up the call and watched as he made his way towards me. "My names Violet." I smiled while putting my hand out to shake his. "Gus...My names Gus." He shakes my hand. "Thanks for paying for my stuff, but you didn't have to do that," I say, pushing a strand of my hair behind my ear. "Well, how else was I supposed to get your attention without being weird?" He laughs.

"This your number?" I point to the writing on my cup. He nods his head as his face turned a bright pink underneath his face tattoos. I smile while looking down at my shoes. "What are you doing today?" He asked me. When he asked me that question, I couldn't remember what exactly I had planned on doing, so instead, i told him, "Nothing."

"Would you like to go down to Long Island with us? " He asks. "You expect me to get in the car with someone I hardly know?" I raise an eyebrow and laugh. "You dont have to even ride with us if you feel that way, you can meet us there." He suggests. "I'll let you know if I decided to go.." I smile before walking away.

I messaged my friend Michelle and asked her if she wanted to tag along if I decided to go down to the beach. She said yes, so we met up and we took my car down there. The ride was an hour long, but we listened and sang along to music to pass the time.  I had completely forgotten to text Gus that I had decided to go, but it wasn't hard to find him and his friends when we got there. They were all skating along the sidewalk when we parked the car. As we got out of the car, I watched as Gus stopped skating and looked back, smiling.

"Is that him? He's kinda cute." Michelle giggles while grabbing her towel out of the back of the car. "Shut up."I playfully hit her arm as we started walking towards Gus and his friends. "You decided to come. I didn't think you were going too." he laughs as we walked up to him. "Surprise," I say while putting on my sunglasses. His friends started to skate back towards this way. "This the girl you were talking your head off about on the way here?" A boy with dreads said while wrapping his arm around Gus's shoulder. "Bruh what the fuck," Gus says while nudging him with his elbow. "I'm Tracy and this is Coldy, Bex, and Raven," Tracy says while introducing the other guys. They all waved and smiled. "And who's your friend?" Raven says while looking at Michelle.

"Michelle. My names Michelle." She grins. "Well, Michelle, How about we go for a walk while these too talk?" Raven smirks at her. She shrugs her shoulders before walking away with him. "The fuck are we gonna do now?" Bex laughs. "Go skate or something," Gus says while walking towards me. He stands by my side as his friends start to skate away. "So, you from New York?" He asks as we walked down towards the beach. "Yeah. But, I plan on moving to California eventually."

"What about you?" I ask him. "Everywhere really." He laughs. "How did you meet your friends?" I looked out at the ocean, watching the waves crash against the shore. "From going everywhere." He picks a shell up off the sand and throws it into the water. "Do you guys travel a lot?" I look at him, the way the sun glistened on his skin amazed me. "Yeah. We're actually leaving New York in a few weeks." He nods his head while pushing his hair out of his face.

Time with Gus flew by so quickly because before I knew it, We were saying our goodbyes as the sunset made the sky a vibrant orange color. "I'll see you around, right?" He stands outside my car. "Sure." I nod my head and smile.  "Come on! if you're going to make me drive home, then I'm ready to go!" Michelle yells. "Text me," Gus says lastly before walking away from the car.
