I had just finished watching the very last romance movie on Netflix, and I still had 3 more days of summer vacation. I didn't want to spend my last days of freedom sitting on my bed all day with nothing to do. So, I got off my butt, and looked around my room for something to inspire me. And then I saw it. There laying on one of the shelves in my closet was a huge piece of white paper. And after watching so many romance movies in a short period of time, I knew exactly what I was going to do.

I grabbed the paper and a few of my colored sharpies and quickly got to work. At the very top of my paper I wrote, The Rules of Love. I continued to write some rules that I thought were necessary in order to have a happy relationship. I wrote about ten rules, and then I vowed that I would never break any of the rules on there, and if I did, there would be major consequences.  After that I grabbed my bright red lipstick, smeared it on my face, and kissed the bottom of the paper. It was perfect!

The only person, other than me, who knew about The Rules of Love was my best friend Emma. She reminded me not to break the rules at the hardest times. And although sometimes it was hard, I had never broken any of the rules. Well, until now. Emma was off on vacation, and her cell service was horrible. I couldn't reach her. This was a huge problem because I was going through a rough time with my boyfriend and I was starting to take him for granted. I knew deep down it wasn't right because he was such an amazing person, and he wouldn't hurt a fly. Yet sometimes I was so oblivious to the little things he would do to me. I would just ignore them, and not realize how much work he must have put into doing it for me. Why wouldn't he be mad at me? I have been so focused on not breaking my rules, that I had broken the most important one of all. Number 10 was last because I knew it was the one I needed to focus on the most. But, I completely forgot about it. And ignored the rule, because as I grew older, I realized they were just some silly rules I wrote when I was 14. But after Noah broke up with me, I realized that maybe I should have payed more attention to those little things in life. I wasn't expecting any consequences, but I was very disappointed in myself.

I woke up the next morning and looked at my clock. It read, 12:30. i blinked a few times. I had to be reading it wrong. My alarm was set to go off at 6:00 every morning. But when I checked when my alarm was going to go off today, it said 6:00 pm. I was freaking out. I hadn't changed my alarm for weeks, and now all of a sudden it was different. My brother probably changed it while I was asleep.

I got ready to go to school late, and when I got there everyone was laughing at me. I had no Idea why, but everywhere I looked people were laughing. I tried to avoid eye contact with anyone, until I got to my locker. People were surrounding it laughing. I pushed people out of the way to see what was going on, and on my locker, in red paint, it said you knew you were breaking the rules but you did it anyways. Now you will pay the price, Gia. An arrow was drawn pointing to the bottom of my locker, and with horror I saw what was there.

There was a pad stuck on to my locker.
