Please read a quick word from me at the end of this chapter :)

The guys didn't pay too much attention to our absence. When we got back to Dusty's room, it was like we hadn't left at all. The boys were still crowded around Drake's bed, discussing amongst themselves. I only noticed just now that Drake hadn't stopped his game to talk to them. He was still playing. He caught me staring, causing me to look away.
Dean and I looked at each other and he shrugged at me before going to sit on Dusty's bed across from the guys. I followed suit, making it look like we were sitting there the whole time.
Once their voices settled down a bit, I cleared my throat. Dusty turned to look at me.
“Oh yeah-”
“You exist!” Seth interrupted Dusty, turning to us as well. I noticed Logan and Dean sharing a look but I didn't comment on it.
The rest of the night wasn't too interesting. It wasn't until the others left that Dusty and I finally got a chance to talk.
“I've gotta.. get some things from my room,” I said, trying to get away from Drake so I could tell him what Dean and I talked about.
“Didn't you already bring stuff?” he asked, his eyes glued to the tv.
“Uh, yeah.. but I forgot a few things.”
Dusty looked at me but then he just nodded and turned back to the screen. I grimaced.
“Did you, uh.. leave anything there, Dusty?” I asked, scratching my nose as I studied Dusty's textbooks on his desk absentmindedly.
“No, I don't think I di-” Dusty started but froze as he looked over at me. Realization dawned on his face and he quickly sat up. “Oh! You know what- I think I might have!”
He stood up quickly and followed me out of his dorm. Drake didn't even spare us a glance.
We ended up walking down to my dorm, anyways. I decided I could grab a couple more garments of clothes so I could have a comfortable stay at Dusty's tonight.
“So Dean knows,” I said, looking down at my feet as we walked. Honestly, I didn't know if I could trust Dean. He just looked like somebody that could keep my secret. The question was, though- if he actually would.
Dusty shrugged after a while. “Figured you would,” he said, looking my way.
“I'm guessing this happened when you both stepped out?”
“Oh, you saw that?” I asked, scratching the back of my head sheepishly. I could have sworn none of the guys noticed.
“Yeah, we all did.”
“Oh.”
“It's alright as long as everything's okay with Dean,” Dusty said, looking down at his shoes at he went.
“What do you mean?” I asked, scrunching up my eyebrows as I tried to process Dusty's words.
“I mean,” he said, looking up at me with a serious face, “Dean got enough shit in his life ever since he came out. Or- sort of came out. And we all have his back- Logan especially. So when he took an interest to you- well..” he scratched the back of his hear awkwardly, not knowing how to explain.
“We're just protective, I guess- in our own way,” he finished, letting out a long breath of air.
I nodded and pulled out my key, unlocking the door to find Chris laying on the bed and watching tv.
