The Crucible

Chapter 4

"Wake up Ellaine!” a voice shouted while I was sleeping. It was Janina. "Are going to school today?” she added.

I clumsily said, "No, I am staying with mother and I'll be guarding her." I yawned as I saw her wave goodbye say that I keep praying and hoping for the recovery of my mother.

As I was going to sleep, Dr. Hacob told me that the illness is still unknown but they are trying they're very best to identify the illness. I nodded then he gave me a smile, he was then called do to do a procedure on a patient.

Ellaine was ready to sleep and remembered, "Ashton and I have a challenge about my 18th birthday and if we don't do it we will have a punishment." She went back to sleep with the purpose of asking Ashton about the challenge and his idea 'bout it.

"Ashton, what do you think about the meet up about my 18th birthday? The Queen has a punishment if we don't obey her.", Ellaine asked the boy she walks with.

"Where do you live by the way?” Ashton told Ellaine.

"Orlando, Florida.” She said.

"Really? That's cool I am from Orlando too. Can we meet in Disney Land?” Ashton replied with excitement and shock.

"Sure. By the way, are we near to Nefelibata?” she told Ashton.

"Tomorrow then - we are just a few more days away from Nefelibata”, he said to Ellaine.

"Tomorrow afternoon.” they both said at the same time.

The next day, Ellaine prepared for the meet up. She headed to Disneyland and started looking for Ashton. As she looks around, she notices that the people look like they are from Nefelibata until she saw a handsome boy looking from side to side as if waiting for someone.

"Hum, are you, hum, are you Ashton?” Ellaine asked shyly.

"Yes, are you Ellaine?” the boy asked Ellaine. 

She nodded, Ashton offered to eat and discuss the challenge, Ellaine also nodded. They ate while discussing 'bout the challenge.

"We are in Disneyland, maybe we join the rides?” Ashton offered. "Ok.", said Ellaine.

The day passed by as Ellaine and Ashton went to rides all day. They rode rides and they were closer to each other. Night came and Ellaine decided to go home.

"Ashton, I will go home now.” Ellaine said as she smiled to the boy.

"Let me assist you to the terminal.” Ashton offered to Ellaine.

She declined the offer but Ashton insisted to take her to the terminal.

They reached the terminal and waited for a bus to stop. The bus that Ellaine was supposed to ride blew a tire then lost control on the vehicle. The bus slammed into the terminal. People were hit including Ellaine. Ashton quickly leapt out of danger but Ellaine jumped too late. She was hit by the bus with other people.

Ashton froze at what he saw; people were hit by the vehicle. He saw people lying on the floor and Ellaine also lying on the floor, not conscious.
