I started regretting the promise I had made to my brother. No one was out in the sweltering Miami heat. No one except foolish me.
When I got home I was going to take a nice, cold shower. And stomp my brother to pulp.
He knew that I would never say no to him when he was in dire need. Not that this was dire, he needed money for college, guess who was there to volunteer to raise money? ME. I bet he was playing X-Box now.
I fanned myself with my hand. There were some times when I LOVED Miami and times I absolutely HATED the state.
This was one of those 'hate' times.
As I looked at the ground, wondering how I got persuaded into this mess, I saw a shadow.
Great, now I was hallucinating.
As I moved my gaze to the normal level, I saw a man.
Well, more like a guy.
So I wasn't hallucinating.
Maybe he was walking the wrong way. I opened my mouth, ready to give directions to any place he wanted to go, but he interrupted.
"Hi, do you know where JC Stadium is? I've been searching for 15 minutes now, you were the closest person that I could find." As he adjusted his suit, I noticed the symbols on his clothes, signaling that they were from Elise Suits. They were made in New York, and very expensive. My uncle had one, until he started getting addicted to drugs.
He walked closer.
And he was really handsome.
"Um, uh... The JC Stadium? It's right next to my house." As the man blinked, a frown appeared on his face.
"Well, where is your house? It's not like I know where your house is." I blinked at him, surprised by his blunt words.
"Er, my house?"
"Yes your house! Oh my god, you're useless!" He snapped at me. He looked down. "And now you've made me late, the gates are probably closed now."
"I'm sorry, seriously." So now I get my stutters away? Great Victoria, why do you have to be so weird?
But he wasn't listening, he was on his phone.
"Gary? Yeah it's me. Come to Lovers Road, I'll be waiting for you there, okay?" He hung up.
"While I'm here, I might as well play your little game. How much turns will $100 buy?"
"Um, we don't take 100 bills, sorry." He glared at me.
"Well I only have 100 bills so take it or leave it." Sheesh what did I ever do to him?
"Uh, it'll buy 10 turns." He passed me a 100 bill and turned towards the strings. I gestured for him to pick ten of the sparkly pink ropes.
As he picked ten randomly, he pulled and the prizes fell out.
10 sheets of card stock saying 'KISS!'
Ah great.
