I looked out my window. The gentle tapping of the rain soothed me as I watched buildings zoom past my eyes. London. The city where we'd get a new start and live better lives. Or at least that's what my parents told me anyway. Well I sure as hell didn't agree with them. I was perfectly fine with where I lived. I had a school and friends. Now... I had to start all over again. I smiled sadly to myself. I was gonna miss those days. The days of running around in the empty fields, laughing and having fun with my friends. My friends said they'd never forget me. That they'd always stay in touch. Well i doubt that. It's true they cared for me, but now that i was gone they'd soon forget about me. I don't blame them. I would do the same thing anyway. I know that makes me look like a horrible person. But i guess that's just how I am. I looked out the window once again. This city looked so miserable. So grey. It wasn't vibrant or colourful like my old home. My mother looked back at me.
"Isn't it exciting? We're in London!" I simply shrugged, not tearing my eyes away from the car window.
"Remind me why we moved again?" I could feel my mother frowning. She was an adventurous woman, always wanting to see as much as possible before her death.
"Oh don't be like that O. I know how much your missing the countryside, it's obvious. But believe me when i say this. It'll be tricky at the start, I won't lie to you, but i promise as soon as you get used to your surroundings life will just get better and better."
"Your mothers right. My promotion meant that we could get a better life in the biggest city in England. So cheer up O, everything is going to be alright!"
"Sure..." I grinned and muttered under my breath. The amount of times they've told me that during the journey was unreal . But I gotta stay positive. Because even when life pulls you down you gotta keep on moving forward. My friends said that I was always optimistic back then, so I think I'm going to stick by that. After about another hour or so of driving, the car came to a halt.
"Everyone, this is our new house!" My dad exclaimed. I got out of the car and looked at the house. It was a small, one floor house, painted grey and looked like no one had inhabited it for years.
"Ohhh yeah, such an upgrade from our last home. You know, the two floored awesome house that i wanna be in again," My dad sent me an angry look. I glared back, sighed and started helping out with the unpacking of everything.
I was lying on my bed, my mind still wondering back and forth from my old and new home. It took a good two hours to unpack everything. my mum poked her head around the doorway to my room.
"Hey. You seem bored,"
"What gave it away?" I asked smiling. My mum smiled back. She could always do something to make me feel better, even if in a horrible situation.
"Why don't you go out and get to know the neighbourhood?" At first I was gonna protest, but then i realised that i have nothing better to do anyway. I grabbed my jacket and boots and headed out the door. I looked around. I started to walk down the road until i came across a park. I hadn't seen it on the way here so i decided to check it out. There wasn't anything special about it. Just your average park with a playground and a football court. There were two guys playing football. They looked about my age so i decided to see if they were from around here.
"Mind if i play?"
"Yeah no problem mate!" One shouted. He spoke in a heavily British accent. So then i jumped into goal and started to save some shots. I'm not gonna lie i ain't the best goalie but it's the best thing i can do in football so i just played along. After a while the two stopped and and came over to me.
"Oi, your not to bad aren't ya?" I laughed and said the same to him.
"I'm O by the way,"
"I'm Lewis and this is Harry. He er, doesn't talk too much," Harry gave me a wave. Lewis also told me that he's from around here and what school him and harry go to. It was just my luck that had run into two nice guys that go to the school that I go to. We then said our goodbyes and I started to head home. Later that day I lied in my bed, unable to sleep. I was wondering how hard it'd be for me to make friends. I was pretty social so i didn't think that'd be too much of a problem for me. I technically made myself two friends already and I hadn't even gone to school yet. I laughed silently. With my mind at ease i closed my eyes and started to be taken away by my dreams. Maybe this whole move to London wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be...
