{Walking with Shadows}
Shadow’s POV:
She balled her hands into fist as she attempted to stop her body’s uncontrollable shaking. Through her dull and pale skin, blue veins proudly made their presence clear. Her fangs refused to surrender into her gums, and the thirst that she had was so heavy, it made her throat ache as if there was a fire trying to burn her from the inside.
But still she refused to feed.
For two months she had gone without blood as a protest to him, to show him that she was willing to slowly die rather then submit to his rules.
“Darling,” He would purr as his cold finger traced a heart on her cheek. “You will surrender to me one way or another.”
No. Giving in to him meant giving into the monster that was burning to be freed inside her. But then again…how did she expect to fight a war against him if she was weak? She needed to be strong. And in order to be strong she had to sacrifice some of her humanity.
“That’s right, Darling.” Her ‘master’ purred as he cupped her cheek in his hand. A smirk pulled at his lips as he brought her face closer to his. “If you wish to continue playing these insufferable games with me, you have to keep up. You can’t kill me on an empty stomach.” He mocked, satisfaction running through him once he saw the fury in her eyes.
“I hate you.” She murmured. “I hate you with all my soul.”
He laughed. “What soul? You belong to me. All of you belong to me, heart, body, mind and soul. I made you, therefore I own you.”
“You will never own me fully. You didn’t when I was human, and that’s not going to change now.”
His brows furrowed as he glared at her. “I let you rebel and rampage all you want because it was amusing, but now I’m getting very irritated with you. You can fight and threat all you want to, my darling Shadow, but you are mine and nothing you do is going to change that. If I die, you die.”
He was right, and she knew it. It would take all the girls to weaken him, but in the end she was the only one who could kill him. Their history together had bounded them heart and soul, so she was literally a part of him, and vice versa. If she destroyed him, she would be destroying herself too.
But it had to be done. She’d rather die and be with the ones she loved than live this life with him. She could give the girls their lives back. She could repair the world.
All she needed was a plan. He had unknowingly given her the key she needed, they called her Snow, and now that she had her, she had to find the door, or more specifically the two doors, that Snow was meant to open.
All I have to do is find them. She thought to herself. Then a smile touched her lips as she mused, Brothers. I couldn’t have asked for better. I just hope they remember her…”
“Darling,” The purr of her other half brought her out of her thoughts, and she glared. “I hate seeing you like this.” He whispered as his lips found hers. She fought him, but she was weak and he was not. In the end she surrendered and her lips parted against his. Her fangs touched his bottom lip, but before she could sink them into the soft flesh he pulled away.
“Tell me you love me.” He demanded, his cheek rubbing hers.
She sighed, and closed her eyes as she gave away some of her dignity with her words. “I love you.”
He smiled. “Say it again, this time with my name.”
She glared. “Which one?”
He smirked. “My real name.”
She sighed and closed her eyes, muttering the same words she swore she would never say again. “I love you…Jeremy Evans.”
His lips sought hers once more and after a long –unwanted on Shadow’s part- kiss, he sank his teeth into his own bottom lip and rubbed it against hers. “Drink.” He commanded.
She drank.
I hate you Jeremy Evans, and I will kill you. Even if it means I must get dragged down to hell along with you.
Snow’s POV:
The house is silent, so silent that it’s painful. When I had first entered the living room, I was silenced before any words got past my lips. It’s been an hour and no one has taken the liberty of explaining this situation. My knees are sore from the sitting position, and there’s a crook in my neck from having my head bowed for so long.
Frustration is building along with the tension, and finally I can’t take it. “Okay,” I say, breaking the intense silence, “what the hell is going on?”
Their heads snap up and they all glare. It is Airiss who answers my question. “Our master is here. It is his request that we stay placed when he is in the household.”
“Oh…Where is Shadow?”
Everyone hesitates. “She’s…feeding.”
“Feeding? Didn’t we feed earlier?”
Sugar smiles slightly at me. “Shadow didn’t feed with us, Hun.”
“Why not?”
“She can’t feed off of humans…” Sugar lets the unfinished sentence hanging in the air, begging me to leave it at that, but I can’t.
“Then what…”
Bliss grunts in frustration. “She feeds from master, okay? He’s the only one she can feed from. Now will you shut the fuck up with the questions before you get us in trouble?”
I nod and bow my head along with the other girls, my head racing.
What the hell is really going on here?
