Chapter 1:
Carter woke up early one morning, plopping out of bed and parading down stairs to the kitchen. Today felt like it'd be a horrible day for her. She had just moved to a new town in the middle of nowhere to live with her aunt Victoria after being disowned by her parents for no apparent reason. Which she was fine with, they never really treated her as their child anyway, and to top it off, today was her first day at her new school."Morning, Vic." Carter chimed, forcing a smile on her perfectly stuctured face as she sat at the dining table, pouring herself a glass of orange juice. "Good morning, Carter. How'd you sleep last night?" Her aunt Victoria replied, shooting Carter the same smile with a glow upon her face, only her smile wasnt forced.
"Ehh not very good. Tossing and turning all night." Carter replied and quickly ate a bowl of cereal before she dismissed herself and walked back upstairs to get ready. She contemplated what to wear, finally deciding on on a pair of shorts and a white button up shirt with studds placed around the collar. The shirt was tied up high at the bottom, showing a bit of her stomach. To finish off her unique look, she slid on a pair of black converse and grabbed her bag, binder and keys, heading out the door after saying buy to her aunt.
As she arrived at the school she parked the car and sat in the driver seat for a moment, hands locked on the steering wheel as she took in a deep breath. 'Here we go, Carter. You can do this...' she said to herself, then began to get out of the car, grabbing her stuff. Walking into the front doors to the school made her nerves tense up, but she couldnt turn back and run away. The office was empty as she walked in to get her schedule.
Her first class was history which she loved. Having to go to the office, she was late for her first class. Walking in the teacher kept writing on the blackboard but spoke, "Youre late. Class started 5 minutes ago. Tardy slip?" Carter walked up to him nervously, handing him the tardy slip that the office woman had given her. "Ahhhh, yes. Mrs. Dylan. Youre the new student." Carter's face tensed into a slight smile, "Please, call me Carter." Mr. Francis Nodded, "Alright, Carter. Lets see..." He said scanning the classroom for an empty seat, "The only open seat is over in the corner next to Mrs. Jones. Mrs. Jones, Can you get her started on the new assignment?" "Yes Mr. Francis." Taylor Jones exclaimed from the back of the room as Carter took the seat next to her.
