There isn't much to do in the country. Where we live is very peaceful. We live in an old castle my family has being living in for centuries. I live with my young daughter, Maddie. She is 6 years old and has her little 'teddy' to keep her company since she has no brothers or sisters. Usually it's only us who are wandering the old empty hallways of this mysterious castle, but since I come from a rich family, their are servants here and there. My name is Issac Christopher Anderson.
I'm 36 years old and my life is very dull. My birthday is November 8th, 1776. Today is July 26th, 1812, and to me it seemed special. I didn't know why it was, but I felt like it had a special meaning.
Ignoring this feeling , Maddie ran up to me, "Daddy! I saw a monster in the hallway!" I wasn't surprised to hear this. My crazy young girl loved to play games with me,but in a odd way. "Shall we have a look?", I replied . She nodded, taking my hand and holding it tightly. We looked through the hallways, and I saw nothing. I looked down at my hand, expecting to see Maddie, but she disappeared as if she wondered off.
I panicked a little, but I heard a slight giggle. I figured that she wanted to play hide 'n' seek. I laughed, "Where did my little Maddie go?" I noticed behind one of the pillars, there was a bear's foot sticking out. I laughed once again and began to slowly walk towards the bear. Once I looked behind the pillar, there was only the bear. I wasn't surprised. "Maddie?" I called out.
I saw a shadow pass by quickly behind me, followed by laughing. I grabbed the bear and followed after the shadow. I finally found Maddie hiding behind one of the statutes. She giggled, "Aww! No fair, you cheated!" "If anyone cheated, it was you," I replied.
We started to walk towards the dining hall, since it was close. We both jumped at the sight of one of the 'monsters'. "AHHH!!", we both screamed. Then we burst out laughing realizing that it was another servant.
I decided to take a walk outside. Fresh air is good for anyone. I stumbled into the forest somehow. I must had drifted off. I looked around carefully. I realized I was in the forest behind of the castle, only it felt different. Ever since I was a boy, my father has told me stories about this forest. He was tease me about their being monsters and evil beings in there.
I never left Maddie go in the forest be herself, especially since I never trusted this damn forest.
I think the main reason was because my brother disappeared there about 30 years ago.
I decided to head back home since I was horrified to think about my brother. Losing siblings or loved ones isn't easy. Trust me, I know.
I quickly raced back to house, still wondering how I even got there. Ignoring the thought, Maddie raced up to me in a big embrace. "Daddy! Where did you go?" she asked. "I.. uh.. went out for a walk..." I replied.
She eyed me, her expression on her face seemed worried. I told her not to worry about it.
I was just wandering through the castle grounds, trying to not think about what I have experienced earlier. I felt that weird tension again. Today just didn't seem right, as if I was losing my breath. I wanted to scream out loud for no reason, or break something. I didn't feel.. normal.
