A weak breeze stirred around the bedroom as Kara fitfully slept, her rest plagued by nightmares until she eventually jolted up in her bed, her skin glittering with sweat.
Flicking the sheets back her feet gracefully met the floor as she silently crept into the adjoining bathroom to wash her face. she stood in front of the mirror above the basin and studied her reflection, the exhaustion was prominent on her face. And she swiftly splashed water over it as if trying to was away her tired features.
After a moment longer she dragged herself away from the gaunt figure in the mirror and stopped at the open window next to her bed and looked at the city sprawled out beneath her, everything worked in nonpareil synchronicity.
It was beautiful, but fake. The city, the people, the world as she knew it was a lie. Once it was only a city just a home for her people, it was a harmonious world, a true paradise. Now it is a carelly webbed lie crafted by none other than her own mother. The highest priest center to it all the mastermind behind the whole thing. This monstrosity that she called home.

The sun peered over the horizon, and kara was already dressed and ready for the day ahead, it was time for morning praise before first meal. The Elam family household rested on the upper levels center tower, underneath a labyrinth of government workers busily keeping the world turning.
Kara joined her mother and father at the dining table, a few kitchen staff milling about, she looked down at the assortments of food on my plate then pushed it forward. Revolted at the idea of eating. "It's not poison, you can eat it." her father cooed as he looked up from his prayer. A wryly smile snaked across his lips as she raked a glare across the table at him.
"I'm not hungry."
She mumbled as she turned her attention to the daily notices that appeared on her wrist monitor, she stared intently at the holographic words now in front of her, if only to avoid
making conversation.
A feminine voice now sounded, sending ripples of hate and fear surging through Kara's body. "Come now, it's time to give thanks to our holy one, for we are the blessed. The chosen."
Karas mother fixed them both with a cold look of hidden malace, her golden curls loosely framing her divine features. And her silver circlet adorned her head gleaming in the light of the early morning.
After sometime of her mother's exaggerated prayers and thanks giving Kara finally was given the chance to go out, a guard walked her to the elevator that took her straight to the bottom floor and out into the onslaught of traffic and people moving about the city.
Kara quickly ducked and weaved through the crowds, Her leith shape helping her move faster than that of the bulky guard tailing her. She was gone within minutes free to do as she pleased.
A male figure grabbed her as she hurtled by, pulling her into a small side street that connected to a large shopping mall. His strong hands wrapped around her waist as she stumbled out of the swift flowing busel of people.
The aloof mask draped over his features shifted as they made eye contact to a wryly smile.
" you should learn to stay upright before you wage a war."
Kara turned away her cheeks slightly flushed but she would not let him notice. She scowled at him as she stuck a blow at his stomach, catching him off guard. With a bemused look she turned her back and called out to him. "I thought you would know better than to tease me Damian." Kara began walking away only to have Damian grab her elbow and put her in a compromising arm lock, his breath danced along the nerves in her neck. her heart thundered so much she could feel it in every inch of contact there was between them and ever so slowly he leaned into her ear and replied with such tone it made every hair stand on end and heated the blood in her veins.
