Waking early the next morning I quickly packed up what little I took out of my car. Going back into the hotel and returning my room key I walked out into the early morning sun. Opening up my car door I got in and started heading onto the highway.
"Oh, so your going to give me the silent treatment now?"
Swerving to the right and barely missing the guardrail and a minivan I let out a screech and whipped my head to the passenger side of the car.
"What the hell?!" I yelled at calm and collected Alli.
"So are you talking to me now?" she countinued as I brought the car to the side of the road.
"Wha- what are you doing here?"I asked.
"Well I after a couple hours of deep and thoughtful medatation I figured I was being a bit harsh...and I couldn't just let you go into an area filled with mutts all by your lonesome self. What kind of friend would that make me?" She answered giving me an innocent look.
"I wasn't aware of the fact that we were friends."I replied
"Ouch, right in the heart" she said, cluching her chest and wincing as if she was in pain.
"You have a heart?"
"Shutup." she replied giving me a flat look.
"All playfulness aside, why are you really here?" I asked her seriously.
"Don't get all gushy on me but you are the only one I've been able to talk to in a while and when I thought about you leaving...well it didn't sit too well with me.." she let her sentance trail off.
"If I didn't know any better I'd say that you have a soft spot for me" I smiled.
"Please, the main reason was because I took your makeup bag and borrowed a shirt from you" she replied, gesturing down to her midsection where a now very familiar looking top sat.
"I was wondering where my makeup bag had gone..." I said glaring at. her.
"Well now you know, now can we start driving. I would prefer if we got there before night time." she said nodding her head at the road.
Turning the car back on I quickly pulled back onto the highway.
"So what's the plan? Alli asked after a couple of silent minutes.
"Plan?"
"What are we going to do when we get there?
"Oh,well I've got enough money to rent a good two bedroom apartment I assume and foo-" I was cut off.
"I'm helping you pay for everything"
"You really don't have t-"
"Yes I do, I know your filthy rich but it wouldn't be fair if you paid for everthing and besides, when you see how much I eat your gonna wish you hadn't brought me along" she said winking at me.
"Oh no."
"You haven't seen anthing yet."

"Three hours later I was passing a sign that read:
'Lupus Falls,Population 400'
"Gee, this place is small." I said.
"Yeah about a fourth of the population is human and the rest are Shifters." Alli explained.
"Are there places like this with cat Shifters?" I asked.
"Oh no. Cats tend not to group together some pair up but not many. Lion Shifters usually stick together though."
"Why only Lion Shifters?"
"I guess old habits die hard" she replied giving me a wry smile.
About thirty minutes of tripassing through various crisscrossing roads we finally reached the gated apartment complex I had found on the internet last night.
"Do you think they accept walk-ins?" Alli asked.
"Let's hope so." I answered back.
Walking into the front office of the complex I gave the the receptionest the most charming smile I could possibly muster.
"How can I help you?" she asked turning up her nose at me.
With her tight bun and sharp buisness suit I knew she wasn't the type to mess around.
"I was just wondering if I could have a two bedroom apartment for a couple of months... and if its possible I'd really rather not have to sign any papers..." I asked hesitantly.
"Why in gods name would yo-"
"Please!" I pleaded.
"Are you... a runaway? She had a blank expression.
"Let's just say I didn't have the most functional family life" I asid vaugly.
"I see...well I guess I can see what I can do." She replied, her stony expression softening.
"Thank you so much, you have no idea how much this helps me"
Giving me a tight smile we started the long process of getting the apartment. An hour later I was walking out of the reception area with two keys.
"How'd it go?" Alli asked, practiclly melting out of the shadows.
"Fine" I answered looking around to notice she had unpacked all my bags.
"Do you have any bags?" I asked her.
"Yeah, I have a few but I wanted to travel light, I'll just buy whatever I need" she answered with a shrug.
Nodding thoughtfuly we started gathering up everything and I led the way up to the apartment.
"Damn,it's already furnished? Alli asked, mouth opened in awe.
I had to admit I was a very nice aapartment, sleek leather couches, a flat screen tv and a low glass coffie table and an assortment of different decorations. The kitchen was absoulutly drool worthy. All stainless steel appliances, a dark marble countertop and a flat top electric stove a large oven and a microwave. All of which were sparkaling clean.
One of the bedrooms was colored red black and white. The other was colored with purple black and white with dark mauve walls. Both had walk in closets and en suites. I'm pretty sure the lady at the front desk was helping me a lot more then she let on. Considering that I got the apartment for the same amount as I would get a single bedroom apartment.
"Which one do you want? Alli asked, nodding her head towards the bedrooms.
"That one" I answered walking to the purple room.
"Oh thank god." She said dashing into the other room.
Grinning I yelled a quick goodnight to Alli and stepped into my bedroom and closing the door. Before I could even think about unpacking I collapsed onto the bed and passed out.
