The sun was up, the wind was gentle, the sand was warm and the atmosphere was nothing but relaxing. A perfect weather for the most awaited getaway.
My friends and I with some of our juniors from the university were enjoying the afternoon breeze making it memorable as possible. This day was special as it was the only day when all of us managed to get the same day off.
It was hard to set a weekend escapade like this when all of your friends are working with different schedules and shifts. Life of being an adult.
Bright may be the only one whose time was flexible as he could get for he was a boss in his own while the rest of us were still working to be there. Although we were doing great in our own fields, we just wished we're not slaves of time.
Therefore, when all of our schedules were lined up, we grabbed the rare opportunity and decided to spend the weekend to a private resort.
Everyone was having a great time, catching up or talking about anything under the sun. The crazy duo couldn't be stop as they lead the stories making all of us remember how it was used to be carefree and 'young.'
It is just really great to be here.
The louder the giggles the more I forgot about my own problems. The frickin' workload I had for the past three months made me the exhausted person I was today. And this scenario in front of me was all I could ask for to make the stress away.
Also, let's not forget the person who made this past three months tolerable. If not for him, I will not be here smiling and enjoying this beautiful day with my friends.
My Kongpob.
If not for him, I might have been fired months ago. My patience for my team got thinner and thinner as they couldn't meet the expectations our employers had given. Half of the team was slacking while the others were trying to cover what the other half couldn't accomplish.
I talked to them to find out what was going on with their performances but all they could give me was they couldn't keep up with the constant changes happening within the company. Our company went under a new management but honestly, it was not bad. Half of my team just wanted to be spoon fed. That's all.
As they kept on bringing the whole group down, it affected me until I couldn't keep my temper anymore. Most of those times, I brought my problems home and lashed it all out to Kongpob. I didn't mean to, but I was fed up.
Thank heavens he had enough patience and made me talk through it. He convinced me to make a drastic decision that would either make my team better or worse.
I requested for an individual evaluation for my whole team and if they fail, they could say bye-bye either to my team or the company. And after the results came out, from 19 it went down to eight. Surprisingly, with our number the higher-ups expected us to doom our productivity but it never happened. We even doubled it. More works were executed with high remarks.
Truly grateful to Kongpob for making me stop the emotional attachments I made with those people who go nothing but to bring me down. It might sound harsh but it was just the world we were living in.
It was either you make your own stand or be eaten by the industry.
Three months ago, I wouldn't even imagine myself here having an afternoon chill with these fools. I thought I would spend my whole weekends working until I couldn't take it anymore.
