"Mom, I'm not hungry!" I exclaimed, throwing my hands in the air with my worn-out high-top converse in my right. "Well fine, I'm not going to argue with you on that anymore," my mom started. "But when you get back from school today we're going up to Walmart to get you some new shoes--" I shook my head frantically. "These are my shoes! I'm not getting any new ones!" My mom sighed. "Johnathan, you can't go places with those worn-out shoes. It makes you look like we're poor." I groaned, sitting down on the couch and tying my shoe laces when I pushed my feet in. Groaning again, I opened the door, running to the bus stop. Few minutes later, the bus came to a stop. The bus driver, Mr. Horn, opened the bus door with that little handle... thing. Kids on the bus make fun of him for his name. They whisper to their friends, calling him 'Mr. Horn*'. But they're too scared to say it to his face. When I walked the steps to the inside of the bus, I heard, "Ews!". I just tried ignoring it by sitting on the very front right seat of the bus and stared out the window. Daydreaming about Ally. A while later, I heard a, "Hey Johnny." It was real soft, but loud enough I could hear. I turned to glance at my left, seeing Ally sitting beside me. I grinned, and same did she. "Hi Ally." My voice was just as soft. I noticed a slight blush on her cheek as she was looking down at her lap. This made my ears grow hot. "Awh, Miss Flat-Ash is--" Nick started on his insult again. "She's not Miss Flat-Ash, you mother of Fred." I clenched my teeth. "Burn!" Michael laughed. "You know, Nick, because Fred's--" Nick turned to Michael, clenching his teeth, but trying to not get pissed. "I know, Mike. I know." We were silent the rest of the way to school. "Here's Miss Flat-Ass. The one who wants to f*ck Gay Retard." Lucy made an evil laugh. I clenched my fists. I really wanted to kick her Snow White-ass. "I think they already did last night," Michael responded, sitting down at his desk. "I mean, you should have seen them on the bus. They're ashamed." I have been thinking how it'll be like to make love. I don't call it 'f*cking' or 'do it'. Honestly, I hardly say 'have sex'. And I bet everything I've got that more than half of these kids at school aren't even virgins. God, I hope Ally is one. Virgin, I mean. "I'm a virgin. So we didn't." I said this ever-so-softly. "Well, I bet this prostitute tried to rape you." I growled at Lucy, standing up and punching her in the face. "Johnny!" Ally cried. I've never hurt a person in my life before. And I've never wanted to. But Lucy was asking for it. Everyone was booing at me. Lucy stood up from the floor, blood running from her nose. "I-I-I'm s-sorry!" I meant it. "Fuck you, you bastard!" Lucy exclaimed, flipping me off, but with her other hand, holding her nose. "What the hell happened in here?!" Ms. Lynne ran in with a serious, cold look on her face. "This gay retard punched me in my nose! Just because I insulted his little girlfriend!" Lucy pointed at me. "Yeah, we all saw it!" Michael said as a witness. I gulped. Ms. Lynne walked up to Lucy, holding her chin up and looking at her nose. She glared at me. "Office! Let's see what they'll do to you," she said, pointing to the door. I glanced at Ally. She shook her head, showing her disappointment in me. I frowned, walking out of the door. When I reached inside the office, the principal, Ms. Allen, was standing in front of me with a cold stare on her face. "Ms. Lynne told me what happened on the intercom. I'm disappointed in you. I mean, you're not the one to do this. You're a great boy." I stared at the floor, taking a deep breath and sighed. "Usually, I'll take someone to ISS for two weeks for fighting. But as a warning, you'll only get one. Room 36. Go." Ms. Allen wrote a pass and signed it, handing it to me. For a few minutes, I was trying to find Room 36. Finally, I found it after almost three minutes. After a gulp, I opened the door, finding about four guys and three girls glance up at me. "Oh, the nice boy in ISS. What ever happened?" Ms. Gwen is a cruel teacher. So that's why she changed from English to ISS, uh, watcher? I don't know what it is. I know by how it looks, I don't belong here. "Sit down already!" Ms. Gwen demanded. I sat down quickly. It was a terrible desk with writing on it about school sucks and all. "This better be finished by lunch time." She slammed a paper on the desk and gave me a pencil that had been bit on multiple times, the eraser almost gone, and a stub for the lead. It was algebra. And I'm supposed to finish this by almost littler than two hours? It takes me about three hours on just two questions! The bell rung, and I thought it was for lunch, but I was wrong. I felt it had been an hour and fifty minutes already. It was just time for World History now. So I started with the algebra again. A long while that seemed like forever later, the bell finally rung. Ms. Gwen swifted over to the desk I was sittng at. "Only three questions?" she bursted out laughing. "And all three are WRONG!" I covered my face with my hand. "Just get on to lunch. Maybe eating will actually make you smart!" Her laughter was hurting my ears. After I picked up my lunch, I sat down at the table I always sit. This time, I didn't see Ally sitting with me. I didn't know where she was. A few minutes of sitting by myself, I felt air brush against me. "Hey." Ally's voice was even softer than it was before. I didn't even look up at her. I was humiliated. "You didn't need to do that," she whispered. I nodded. "Sorry," was all I said. "It's fine. It was sweet though." She giggled slightly, leaning in and giving me a sweet peck on my cheek. A smile started growing wide on my face. No one's ever kissed my cheek before. Not even my mom. "I know everyone hates me now... well, even more. But all that really matters is that you still like me. Don't you?" I asked her, wincing from fear. "Why would I not like my first friend here in North Carolina?" That made me grin like hell. "You're my only friend, y'know." Ally giggled sweetly. "It's not always going to be like that. You'll get some more friends somewhere." I shook my head. "Doubt it." I started eating, but slowly. I was embarrassed by Ms. Gwen from not knowing that algebra. "Is something else wrong?" Ally asked. "Nah," I lied. "Don't lie to me, Johnny." She pushed my arm. "Ms. Gwen was embarrassing me in front of her about not knowing the algebra questions. God, I'm such an idiot--" I started, but Ally grabbed my arm and interrupted me, "You're not an idiot! You're a really smart person who just needs more time!" My ears started growing hot. "Ally, come on, don't be with this loser. We're welcoming you to the popular crowd." Hilary came from behind us. "Yeah, come on," Nick repeated her. "First off, Johnny's NOT a loser. And if you are not going to include him, then I'm not going." Ally was still holding on to my arm. I started smiling foolishly. "He'll screw up the crowd. You're cool. Come on, Ally! Do you really want to stay known as Miss Flat-Ass by Lucy?" Nick wondered out loud. "I thought you thought I was Miss Flat-Ass, too." Ally reminded. "I know how much you hate it. So if you leave this gay loser and come with us, then you'll be known as the popular Ally. The one who doesn't care anymore about... him." Ally rolled her eyes. "I rather be in a field of hundreds of dirty jackasses than be with you all. I mean, insulting all the time? That makes you all dirty." I chuckled. "Fine. Have a loser you call 'friend'. That's all you'll have." Hilary hissed, and her and Nick walked back to their table. Couple minutes later, the bell rung for gym. Another day of kickball. "Okay, Ben." Mr. Hites picked. "And... Hilary." Mr. Hites pointed to Ben. "Claire," he called. "Hilary." Mr. Hites pointed to Hilary. "Uh... Nick." Ben looked along. "Ally." Ally giggled, running up. "Lucy." Hilary waved. "NO!" Ben hollered. I looked over, Ally crossing her arms, glaring at Ben. "Brandon." And it went on until I was the last one. Again. "Okay, Johnathan will be on Hilary's team." Everyone on her team groaned and "Oh, come on, Mr. H!" I looked up at Mr. Hites. "Can I just sit out this time?" He took a deep breath and sighed. "Alright." I strolled over to the bleachers, frowning, sitting down and resting my head on the palm of my hand. I watched Ally as she did amazing. I think I'm falling for her. The bell rung for the end of the day. What the hell? She was talking to Miranda. The girl who treats me like I'm trash. And she's laughing. Ally's laughing. I ran towards the bus parking lot, hopping on the bus fast as I could. "I just wanna be alone," I told Ally when she tried to sit beside me. "Oh, I was just going to tell you something. But I guess I won't." She sighed. "No, what?" I was feeling bad by this point. "Can't tell ya since I can't 'sit beside you'." I took her arm before she could walk away, and she sat down. "Now what?" I asked, raising my eyebrow. "I hope this won't offend you--" Ally started, but Michael interrupted her, "Yeah, she hopes this won't offend you!" He sung obnoxiously. "Michael, shut up!" Ally demanded, flying her hand in front of his face. "I hope this won't offend you, but I was wondering if you'd like me to help you with kickball at my house. Like to?" I smiled. "Yeah, I'd like that." Ally laid her head down on my shoulder. "Awh, lovebirds!" Michael chirped, jumping from his seat. My ears started burning. Ally started giggling. "Gorgeous lovebird falling for the ugly lovebird!" He insulted me. "He can't be ugly when he looks like Ralph Macchio." Ally shook her head at him, then turned to me. "Come to my aunt's house at..." And she wrote down her address, and a few minutes later, she was dropped off. "Your first house date with a girl." Michael bursted out laughing. God, my ears keep burning with embarrassment. When I came home, I burst through the door. "Hey Dad! Hey Mom! BYE!" I was about to leave before my dad said, "Where are you going?" He reached me, chuckling. "Ally, she offered to help me with kickball." He crossed his arms. "You never asked me to help you with kickball." I threw my hands out, throwing out a shocked look. "Yes, I did. It didn't work out too well!" My dad chuckled. "Well, your mother and I are going with you--" I groaned. "Do you have to? That's embarrassing!" He raised his eyebrows. "We're going." I rolled my eyes. "Fine." I groaned once again. Ally's aunt's house wasn't too far away. It couldn't be since we had the same bus. I finally had talked them into staying in the car. I knocked on the door, and an elderly lady opened the door. "Hey, you must be Johnny. Ally talks about you all the time. But she hasn't said one word about your Ralph Macchio looks," she said, looking me up and down. "All the time?" My ears started growing hot. "Aunt Peggy, I think Johnny and I should just get outside now." Ally came in to the picture. She grabbed my hand and guided me to her backyard. "Okay, so stand here." She moved me beside her. "When the ball's rolling towards you, you kick like this..." And the lesson went on. "Johnathan, it's time to go!" my mom hollered out to me. I slapped my hand to my forehead. "Embarrassing..." I clenched my teeth. "It's not embarrassing. Back in Virginia, my parents do it all the time." Ally pushed me to go to my parents, but she stayed in the same spot. "She is pretty. You're right." My mom snickered. "Mom!" I yelled quietly. My parents and I arrived back home, ate dinner, and I got ready for bed. It was late. Like 11:30. I couldn't wait to impress Ally at gym tomorrow.
