Chapter One. [Edited 03/14/2021]
James

I was in my room thinking about my life and I remembered my life's screwed up I love Sofia my sister but I don't know why I do.  Spending time with her is normal but falling in love with her is so rare. Were young and dumb I guess Dad might. Tonight I would like to admit I like her.

I went to Cedric's tower to ask for magic, liquid luck some might say. In retrospect, I can’t date my sister as a family, in the eyes of well everyone. Yet, we aren't biological. However, she still sees me as the brother I was to her eight years ago when she first came to the palace. I am no longer that little blonde boy with a careless whisper of fleming hope. I no longer aspire to be king nor have I ever really. I want to blurt my heart out, spill everything into the open.
I can't admit until tonight, everyone will be going away to another stupid kingdom ball but Sofia and me. Other than the servants, passing a few in my thoughts roaming my head like a cartoon bird.

To the extent of what it was thought to be knowledgeable on new James, confession wouldn’t last. Later that night he tried. To no avail could the seventeen-year-old boy confess his deepest secret to the person he cared most about in life. The change had hit the family like a brick over the year. The royal family became a family of five instead of three. As well as keeping the town from erupting the castle was no different. In the public eye, James was the perfect son, and Sofia and Amber were the perfect daughters. Behind closed doors, the rooms of the castle became vacant of laughter. Inside the walls of the bedrooms, the three children remanded calm in their habitat.

According to the teenagers they were doing fine. However, James was a fake smile along with his one true love and twin sister. Most teenagers tend to do under tremendous stress from the world caving outside.

“James?” Sofia softly asked her soft voice echoed. She briefly knocked quietly on his giant wooden door. “Yeah, Sofia?” James asked looking up from the book he was pretending to read. “I’m going to the village. Will you be okay here alone?” Sofia questioned her step-brother. “Yes Sofia,” James said groaning slamming his book shut. “Did Miranda and Dad say it was okay?” James replied to his sister furrowing his brows and cocking his head to the side. “Yes, James, Mom, and Dad said it was okay. Goodbye James sees you tomorrow.” Sofia shouted walking back down the hall to her bedroom. James watched the way her dress embellished her curves.

James couldn’t stop thinking about Sofia while she was out. Worrying about if she made the short trip okay. The unspeakable bonds between the two formed only as far as a brother and sister should. However, that tried not to stop James while personality caused a rainbow of emotion over James’s mind. He didn’t volunteer to be like this. The thought of Sofia put a smile on his face before he went back to being worrisome.
Talk of the castle was that something big was happening soon enough. However, on the contrary to what anyone may think. The children other than Amber who was to be queen soon were told nothing.
