Prologue
Elena's P.o.v.
"Stefan do you really have to go to the station now?"
"I need to see what the chief wants."
"Can't your brother leave you alone every once and a while."
"He can but he doesn't if he needs me."
"Stef. Please don't go. I have a bad feeling about tonight."
"I'll be careful. I love you."
"I know but I just don't want to lose you. Especially now with Sarah and Gabe."
"I know and I have amazing reasons to come home."
"And what are they?"
" My beautiful fiance Elena Gilbert and our beautiful children whom I love dearly."
"We love you too. That's why I am begging you to stay."
"Baby I know you think I should stay but just think of it. Our wedding is in two days and then you will be Mrs. Elena Salvatore. I promise I'll be extra careful. I'll be home before you know it. I love you."
"I love you too."
"Now go back to sleep. It'll be okay."
"Okay."
He leaned down on placed a kiss on my forehead and I drifted off in to sleep.
Stefan's P.o.v.
I got to the station to find no one else there yet. I went to the kitchen and a few minutes later my brother walked in.
"Hey chief."
"Hey little brother."
"What's the emergency you called me down here for."
"I wasn't the one who called for the emergency. Donovan did."
"Well where is he."
"He had to get Tyler."
"Okay. How's your wife?"
"She's fine. How is your fiance?"
"Wonderful. So are the kids."
He was about to answer but he was cut off by the sound of Tyler and Matt running down the hall.
"Warehouse fire. Down at the docks. Let's go!" Matt yelled. We ran to get suited up and got on the truck. When we got there it was up in a blaze.
"Matt Tyler Stefan make sure no one is inside!" Damon yelled over the noise of the fire. We got inside and Matt yelled split up. Tyler went down and Matt went straight. All that was left was up. There wasn't anyone in the top. I started back down when I heard the floor groan. I need to move, fast. I ran for about three seconds before the floor gave way. I went crashing down through the first floor all the way down to the basement.
"Firefighter down. Firefighter down."
That was the last thing I heard before everything was silent and dark.
