The bone-chilling gusts of wind infiltrate through the iron-barred window and pervade the compact room. It nips at my hands and feet until they are raw and numb but it does not interrupt me from cogitating an escape tactic. In sooth, the biting temperature impels me even more.

I reach up to untie the ribbon from my long sable hair, presuming it to be of some use. I wander around—but not in a perambulatory way—inspecting every crevice in the stonewalls in search or something sharp to use as a weapon.

The sound of footsteps unnerves me and I clutch the long and thick piece of ribbon before scuttling into the corner of the room. The footsteps cease and keys jingle as the unknown person unlocks the door.

With a groan, the rusty door opens and reveals a man in wealthy apparel holding a tray of unpalatable food. He turns away from me and starts towards my cot where I stuffed the pillow beneath the sheet.

Noiselessly, I creep up behind him and send a kick at the backs of his knees. As he falls, I wrap the ribbon around his neck and tug on it using all of my force. He begins to stop struggling but I keep hold of the ribbon just in case it’s a ruse.

A minute passes and when I’m sure that he’s dead, I release my hold on him and then roll him over so that he’s lying on his back. My eyes roam over his body until I spot a SOG knife and a .45.

I grab both but use the knife to cut my tattered sapphire dress at my knees. I wedge the gun into the elastic band of my undergarments and keep the knife out in front of me.

slip out of the room with ease and silently run through the dark underground prison.

Footsteps sound from around the corner and I peer around the wall to see a guard leaning against the wall. I whistle and hear him turn towards the corner. Then I take this opportunity to jump out and throw the knife at his chest. For the slightest moment he just gapes at me, utterly stunned. Then he falls down, lifeless. I retrieve my knife from chest, hold it behind my back, and move on.

Soon I come to the room that the exit is located in. I survey my surroundings and note that there are five guards that all appear to be about six feet or taller. Having an idea, I hesitantly amble out in front of them, an innocent expression plastered onto my face. Once I’ve gained their attention, I begin lifting the hem of my dress temptingly. As I pull it up higher and higher, my fingers graze my gun and I withdraw it. In one swift movement, I remove the safety, cock it, and shoot them. Assuming I’m done, I put my gun back under my dress with the safety on, of course.

I curse silently as another two guards come into view. I guess I could have been a little more discrete. I hasten towards them and before they can unleash their weapons, I thrust the knife into one of their chests, reclaim it, and let it soar through the air and slice into the second man’s head. This was just too effortless.

With a smirk on my face, I saunter out into the daybreak.
