Finding Myself

Welcome to WYSE

This place was stunning, ignoring the heat, it seemed pretty great. There were tall brick buildings every now and then, but other than that it was a pretty spacious campus with large open coutryards pretty much as far as the eye could see. I scrambled off the bus with the three other girls I met and then we grabbed out luggage and dragged them a to a smaller brick building with large glass doors.

The staff person came over once again to talk to us, "Set your bags right here then go inside and get your room assignments, as soon as you're done with that, you can go to your rooms!"

There was then a little wave of people who moved towards the grassy area in front of the door. They all then set their stuff down in little piles and then moved to the door.

I was one of the first people to enter the building, yet somehow I ended up at the back of the line. Whatever. The room was a soft cream color with two long tables set up at the front, each with a stack of paper and what looked to be a small black brief case.

After what seemed like hours, I finally stepped up to the desk. I was one of the last few people in the room besides that short girl from earlier. "Name?"

"Alexia Knight." I stated automatically, looking around at their stuff curiously.

The staff person looked into the black briefcase for a second and pulled out a large plastic card with a photo of myself on it and a green stripe at the bottm with the white words 'access' printed across it. They then attached a little card and a lanyard to it and then handed it to me with two slips of paper, "This is your room number, and this is how you can get on to the internet." They told me, dismissing me at the same time.

I left the room, waving to the short girl and then grabbed my suitcase from outside. I wheeled my stuff away from that building and looked down at my little piece of paper, 'Blueridge' was the building name so I set off in search of that first.

The building wasn't too far from the check in area so I found it with ease. It was actually attached by a corridor to the other dorm building, Sandbridge. The door was propped open so I slid easily through the door, then I walked over to the elevator and took it up to my room, there were a few people on the elevator with me, but they were all on the lower floors.

When the elevator finally stopped on the highest floor, I quickly exited it and looked around for my room. It was the furthest room from the elevator. The room was right next to the floors recreation center which was in full sight due to it's glass walls and door.

When I opened the door to my own room, I found that there were three separate rooms inside. My room, 'A' was straight across from  the entrance door and contained one bed, a closet, and a desk. It wasn't much, but it was nice. After all, I didn't have to have a roommate! Granted, I had suitemates, but that would be nice.

I found on my desk a green drawstring bag with a bunch of George Mason University souvinier items promoting the college.

I dropped my stuff in the room then poked my head out looking for the bathroom. The set up was pretty nice, the sinks and counter was in full view of everyone, and the shower and toilet was in the next room. Across from the bathroom set up was room 'B' which didn't have any people in it at the moment, and then next to the bathroom at the end of the little hallway was a large room with two beds. This room looked as if both people had been here and left already.

When I was done exploring the suite, I went back to my own room and started going through my stuff, looking for some nice clothes. I finally found a nice black skirt and a nice shirt when the door opened to the suite. I looked out of my room to see the short girl from earlier.

"Hey!" She called out to me, walking towards her room.

"Hey!" I replied, happy to know at least someone in my suite.
