- Draco -

_

Autumn was on the horizon, green leaves turning amber, golden and the deepest shade of plum. The students basking in what they had left of the summer sun.

Draco peered out of the stained glass window, colours of red and green in the most intricate patterns the Slytherin had ever seen. He sighed, leaning his body on the wall as he saw a single leaf fall from the whomping willow.

"its all a bit strange, isn't it" he heard from behind him, a voice of silk. Hermione made her way beside him and he glanced at her. "very" the boy replied, walking slowly over to the sofa.

He sat down, and looked over at the former Gryffindor girl, perched on the windowsill, tracing the details on the window with her finger. "things could be worse" he said, completely shocking himself, 'no they couldn't' he thought to himself, and tried to hard to convince himself that infact, this was the worst thing that could ever happen to him, yet.. here Draco was, sitting within metres of a girl he probably should be repulsed by, but he wasnt. Not in the slightest.

His gaze fell to the fire place, the fire he had started just after dinner, was dying down, just as quickly as the sun was setting. Then everything hit him, he was going to be a husband and a father. He couldnt arse around, he had to grow up. Draco looked back at Hermione, a smile threatening to be known as he watched her.

"Hermione" he said softly, quietly at that. He watched as she lifted her head to look at him, she arched her eyebrow slightly. "Yes, Draco?" she replied, not in the mood to ask why he had even used her name.

"Lets start over.." Draco began as he sank even further into the couch. "We're going to be married, and have children soon, so why not just forget everything about our past and.. start over." he finished, smiling softly.

He was apprehensive when Hermione moved over to him, "I'm Hermione Granger" she said, almost harshly. But she had a voice as soft as wild honey, she stuck out her hand and Draco clasped his own with it, her skin softer than down. "Draco Malfoy" he spoke firmly, his smile almost growing wider.

They talked for hours, telling each other every detail about themselves. Draco grew a trust in Hermione and within an hour it was like she knew him better than anyone else and vice versa. Dracos eyes wandered down to the marks on their wrists, "Bloody tattoos" he mumbled, earning a gentle laugh from Hermione.

"Its mad" she said, looking from her wrist to his. He just shrugged, running a hand through his almost white hair, smiling lightly as Hermione worked up a yawn.

They stood up at the same time, almost as if it were planned. "Goodnight Draco" she whispered, walking towards the stairs, smiling softly. "Night, Hermione" he called quietly as he watched her dissapear upstairs.

He slowly put the fire out and switched off the lights before following the girl upstairs, when he entered the room, she was sound asleep and the only noise that could be hear was the wind hitting the window.

Draco climbed in beside Hermione, pulling the duvet over her sleeping body before laying his head on the feather pillow.  He lay awake, listening to her slow breathing which soon enough, caused him to drift off

'she's beautiful, and she doesn't even know it' were his last thoughts before falling into a deep sleep.
