Oakhurst

I was currently being crushed under a hissing, roaring, charcoal-skinned, glowing green eyed beast. This wasn't exactly part of out plan. Then again, our plan is, if you find someone, then improvise.

A well placed arrow from Evan was enough for me to squirm out from under the monster, grab my sword from the ground and take a swing at the disgusting beast. It ended up picking me to chase after. Shit, was my thought.

Then, Andrew, our main tracker, charged out of the shadows, screaming and holding two daggers. The black beast was now confused about who to attack, and it was only a split second of hesitation, but Andrew is light on his feet and he was able to stab the thing before it could make that decision. Another well placed arrow from Evan, and one sword down its skull later, and we had ourselves a dead pile of flesh. Great. Just what everyone wanted.

"How far away is the nearest town?" I asked Evan. He pulled out his map. "Seems like there's one about a mile away," he replied, folding it back up and stuffing it into his backpack.

"Great. Only about a day away. We can probably defend ourselves long enough for us to get there." I said optimistically.

We walked for a while before deciding to set up shop at a small clearing in the rather dense forest we currently found ourselves in. Andrew took first watch and we put all of our weapons in a place where they were easily accessible should we be woken up by monsters. I was the last person who had to watch before we were on our merry way, and it went by rather peacefully, with only the occasional sound of footsteps, and small ones at that.

I woke the other two up at the crack of dawn, Andrew complaining with stuff like, "No, Jen, I'm so tired!" So I just pulled him off the ground and he was up. Always works.

We continued our walk, and came across a weird living skeleton creature. Then a couple more came out from behind some trees. Evan tried firing an arrow at one, but it just got stuck in his ribcage and didn't really do anything. He looked miffed, but pulled out his spear and tried to stab one. That worked better, but it didn't really seem dead, or at least dead for the second t- oh you know what I mean.

I did a swing with my sword, which seemed more effective, knocking his body in half, which was easier yo do then you might expect. We all did something similar with our longer weapons, and we were soon strolling along again.

Later in the day, Evan pointed at a tower and said, "Look!" its moss covered material looking majestic as it pierced the blue sky. We had reached the town of Oakhurst.
