Chapter One: 14 Years Later

"KELLER!" A high-pitched girlie scream called. I looked over and saw my sister Hailey. She had blond hair and doe brown eyes--something I didn't have.

"What?!" I replied in the same tone and pitch.

"Come shopping! Forever 21 is having a major sale!" She exclaimed happily.

"Alright, just let me get changed out of my PJs." I rushed up the stairs of the huge Circle house and towards my room. I'm a werewolf, just minus the wolf part. I can't Shift, but it doesn't bother me. I'd rather not be able to have an inner 'Wolf' as werewolves would call it. I call it monsters, 'cause that's what werewolves really are. And I thank God for not giving me that curse.

My mum and dad weren't related to me by blood, they took me in after my parents allowed the hunters to capture me. But because I was an innocent child, they took me in while nobody else did. I remember growing up with my werewolf Pack about evil stories on the hunters, but hunters weren't the bad guys. The werewolves are.

Werewolves are cold and heartless creatures. I know this because my parents may have lost me, but they never bothered to come look for me. Instead, their enemies took me in as their own and raised me. I was treated with respect from the other kids as I became the best Leader Warrior in the world, along with my 'trusty sidekicks' Justin, Blake, Damian, Trent, Nick, Nate, and Noah who were Leader Warriors from other Circles.

I ran my fingers through my lower back length raven-colored hair. I pulled on black jeans, a black t-shirt, and a black leather jacket--all fitted to my every curve of my body. I laced up my black combat boots and threw my hair in a high and tight bun. I slipped on my fingerless leather gloves and added some black mascara and eyeliner to make my green eyes pop.

Grabbing my keys, wallet and iPhone, I headed back downstairs to my gorgeous white BMW M3 Convertible with red leather interior. Walking around the front of my baby and affectionately petting the hood. I got into the car and turned the ignition hearing the car purr to life with little noise. I blared the car horn to tell Hailey I was ready.

She soon came out to our three-car garage and plopped down beside me. Hailey was the complete opposite of me physically and personality wise--yet we got along and were best friends. She had collarbone-length curly blond hair, brown doe eyes, and she was tall (5'8") and slim--while I had black hair, green eyes, and I was short (5'4") and toned but with all the curves in the right places.

I pulled out of the driveway as Hailey turned up the radio and we both started screm-singing to Tonight Tonight by Hot Chelle Rae. "TONIGHT! TONIGHT! THERE'S A PARTY ON THE ROOFTOP, TOP OF THE WORLD! TONIGHT! TONIGHT! AND WE'RE DANCING ON THE EDGE OF THE HOLLYWOOD SIGN!"

We parked in the mall parking lot while people nearby either looked at us wierdly for singing, or old people smiling at our youth. Hailey looped her arm into mine and asked, "Aren't you excited for tomorrow?"

Tomorrow was August 3rd, which was a Saturday. Other than our weekly summer bonfire by the lake, nothing rang a bell. "What's tomorrow?"

"How can you forget? We have that mission over in the US that we're going on...Remember now?"

I thought about it until my eyes widened in realization. "Oh yeah! The one for the Pack down there." We were being shipped to New York so we could get recon on a Pack that the hunters are planning on wiping out next.

Hailey nodded and spoke to me as though I were a child. "Yeah, and we're going to that fancy boarding school with them. School starts on Wednesday the 14th."

I scrunched my nose up. "Why are they sending us so early? It doesn't start for nearly three weeks!"

Hailey shook her head in exasperation. "We need to get settled and then you are joining their Pack."

I made a face in disgust. "Shit! No way, dude, am I sleeping under the same roof as those flea-infested mutts!" Knowing I really had no say in it, Hailey didn't pursue this topic and instead dragged me into Forever 21.

As much as I loved my clothes and beauty, I was also a tom boy. So after 2 and a half hours of shopping for endless amounts of items, we made our way to Ricardando's, a local Italian restaurant that was 'the' spot to hang out.

We walked in and immediately saw our obnoxious group of friends sitting in our usual spot. There was Blake, Justin, Alyssa, and Chantelle. As we walked up to the table, everyone started greeting us.

"Hey guys." I greeted back, squishing into the booth next to Alyssa, with Hailey right next to me.

"Soooo," Hailey started. "What did you guys order?"

"2 cheese, 3 peps, and 3 pitchers of root beer and 1 of lemonade." Justin replied, too engrossed in his iPhone to answer, typical.

"Guys?" I called out. My voice was waivering slightly which caused them all to stop wha they were doing and looked at me warily. "Hailey and I will be going over to New York for a mission. We don't know how long it'll take."

Blake, Justin and Chantelle frowned as Alyssa's began to water over. Fuck. Was All I could think. And here come the waterworks, I thought dryly. In three, two, one...

"NOOOOOO!" Alyssa dramatically stated. "You can't leave me with-with t-them!" She pointed over to Blake Justin and Chantelle.

Hailey's eyes started to spill with water also as they hugged each other to death. The guys, Chantelle and I just sat there awkwardly waiting for their little DQ moment to cease.

Soon enough, we all said our goodbyes as Hailey and I left for the airport. We dropped all our new clothes into our suitcases--tags still on--and sped all the way to the airport. The sad thing was, was that as I got onto the plane, I realized that I didn't even get to ride the waves on last time.

The plane took off and the water below was shining with small dots that were obviously surfers--like myself. I sighed as we flew, away from the waves. Away from my waves.
