Chapter 3
Jared, the drummer, is extremely fit, tall, and tan. His long brown hair is pulled back into a bun. He's the guy every girl wants and who every man wants to be. Jade says he tends to keep to himself and he normally leaves right after the gigs, today not being an exception.
Alec, the bassist, is tall but shorter than Jared and a bit lanky. His head is covered in bright blonde hair that's styled to cover his forehead.
Now who's the girl that seemed to attract everyone's attention? Her name's Melissa but everyone called her Mel. She's short compared to the guys surrounding her but is still taller than Jade. Her long, straight black hair makes her appear paler than she actually is and it goes well with her deep brown eyes. To sum things up, she's gorgeous. I can't keep my eyes off of her.
But neither can Ray.
He's standing directly behind her in the circle and I see him whisper things in her ear. What he said intended to be a secret known only to them.
"Jason," I was brought out of my thoughts when Jade called my name. It was clear she had asked me a question and called my name many times but I was too lost in thought to hear her.
"What?" I ask, looking towards her and Alec.
Jade laughs "I asked what your favorite genre of music is."
I look between the two of them, "Well, I don't really have one. I'm not super into the music scene, I just listen to whatever Ray blares when he's in the shower," I say as I awkwardly rub my arm.
The two exchange a glance before they smile. Uh oh.
''We got fresh meat," Alec says with an ominous smile while I stare at him extremely confused.
"Give me your phone," Jade says. It seems more like a demand than a question so I obey, unlocking my iPhone then handing it over to her.
Alec stands so he's looking over her shoulder as she taps around the screen. I watch her, her tongue slightly poking out of her mouth as she concentrates on whatever she's doing on my phone while Alec leans over her shoulder, pointing to some things on the screen. After a few minutes I'm handed my phone back with Spotify displaying on my screen.
"I don't have a Spotify," I state as I give them a confused look.
"We made you one using one of Mel's thousands of email addresses. If you want premium though you gotta pay for it yourself." Alec says, I noticed he also has a subtle British accent.
I nod and scroll through the many playlists they added to my library. I recognize a few bands on there like The Killers and Greenday but the majority are unknown to me.
"Okay, I'll give them a listen." I say before being interrupted by a loud thud. We all glance over to the stage area to see Zack laying on the floor, groaning after a failed attempt at crowd surfing. I turn to Ryan who just shrugs and we all collectively sigh.
"I think we're gonna head out before my friend does anything else to injure himself." I say to the two who reply with a sympathetic nod.
"I put our numbers in your phone, hit us up sometime." Jade says.
I give them a brief smile before dragging Ray away from Mel and pushing the two drunks I call friends out the door.

I wake up the next morning to sunlight streaming in from my blinds. I roll over to view my alarm clock that's displaying "10:42" in bright red numbers. I roll over onto my back with a sigh and pull my phone off the charger to see 3 new messages.
Jade <3:
Hey dude, hope you don't mind but I texted myself from your phone so I'd have your number.
Loser (Alec):
Your hot but like, no homo.
Loser (Alec):
OMG Jade stole my phone last night. Ignore last message!!!
I unlock my phone and laugh.
To: Jade <3
I see you also pulled a little prank on Alec. "No homo?" Really??
I hit send and throw the blue striped blankets off my body, exposing me to the coldness of the room. I look around at my gray walls and glance over at the postcards I have hanging up in their dedicated section. My dad traveled a lot when I was younger for his job so he wasn't always around, but he always made sure to send me a postcard from wherever he went. I have roughly twenty of them hung up on the wall next to my bed so I'll see them when I wake up. Weird I know, but it keeps me from getting too homesick. I get out of bed and step onto the spot navy blue rug that covers the areas around my bed, protecting my feet from the cold hardwood floor. I quickly throw a t-shirt on, not bothering to change out of my pajama bottoms, and exit my room.
It's quiet. Too quiet. I look over to Ray's door and see that it's open, but he's not inside. On the counter I spot a post it note.
Hey, went to meet up with that chick from last night.
Don't wait up.
~R
I roll my eyes and throw the note away. Looks like I might be able to actually get some work done today.
